{"id":308670,"date":"2026-01-28T21:25:20","date_gmt":"2026-01-28T21:25:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/308670\/"},"modified":"2026-01-28T21:25:20","modified_gmt":"2026-01-28T21:25:20","slug":"csda-releases-new-data-products-from-vantor-and-satellogic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/308670\/","title":{"rendered":"CSDA Releases New Data Products from Vantor and Satellogic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NASA\u2019s Commercial Satellite Data Acquisition (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.earthdata.nasa.gov\/about\/csda\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"ae25fb78-0486-4394-b4d7-2342ee4856a9\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"CSDA\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CSDA<\/a>) Program recently added digital elevation model and imagery products from Satellogic and Vantor (formerly Maxar). Each of these products, described below, is accessible through the CSDA&#8217;s \u00a0Satellite Data Explorer (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.earthdata.nasa.gov\/data\/tools\/satellite-data-explorer\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"0c4712a9-5bdb-45f7-9036-01510e29fa8f\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"Satellite Data Explorer\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SDX<\/a>) data access and discovery tool.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The first of these is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.earthdata.nasa.gov\/data\/alerts-outages\/archived-tasked-multispectral-data-from-satellogic-released-nasas-csda-program\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"59d493d9-8557-4de2-b042-8999dfc62254\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"Archived and Tasked Multispectral Data from Satellogic Released by NASA\u2019s CSDA Program \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Level 1D Orthorectified multispectral archive and tasked data product from Satellogic<\/a>.\u00a0This product, which is equivalent to a NASA-defined <a href=\"https:\/\/www.earthdata.nasa.gov\/learn\/earth-observation-data-basics\/data-processing-levels\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Level 1C data product<\/a>, provides imagery with 99-centimeter resolution and Top of Atmosphere radiometric correction and is derived from satellites in Satellogic\u2019s NewSat constellation.<\/p>\n<p>CSDA is also offering <a href=\"https:\/\/www.earthdata.nasa.gov\/data\/alerts-outages\/vantor-archive-imagery-added-satellite-data-explorer\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"70c9c36d-1da1-45b0-84a5-174f72ef7ac4\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"Vantor Archive Imagery Added to Satellite Data Explorer\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">30-cm black\/white and color imagery<\/a> from Vantor&#8217;s 125-petabyte archive dating back to 1999. The imagery comes from Vantor\u2019s constellation of Legion satellites, each of which offer 8-band visible and near-infrared multispectral imagery at a resolution of up to 30-centimeters. This imagery is suitable for use in a variety of applications ranging from agriculture and natural resources monitoring to disaster response and environmental surveillance.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And finally, CSDA has added <a href=\"https:\/\/www.earthdata.nasa.gov\/data\/alerts-outages\/digital-surface-terrain-models-from-vantors-precision3d-product-line-added\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"9958f0f7-a060-4e39-845b-b409ec7ec370\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"Digital Surface and Terrain Models from Vantor\u2019s Precision3D Product Line Added to Satellite Data Explorer\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">three digital elevation and digital terrain products\u00a0from Vantor<\/a> to the SDX: a 3D Digital Surface Model (DSM) at 1-meter resolution, a 3D Digital Terrain Model (DTM) at 1-meter spatial resolution that offers bare-earth elevation data, and an Elevation Bundle, which combines the DSM and DTM products to provide detailed views of both above-ground features and the underlying bare earth at 1-, 2-, and 4-meter resolution.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers interested in accessing these data product in SDX can use <a name=\"_Int_iMu5apHF\"\/>their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.earthdata.nasa.gov\/data\/earthdata-login\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Earthdata Login<\/a>\u00a0for authentication and initiate data download requests. Use of these products is governed by the United States government End User License Agreement (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.earthdata.nasa.gov\/s3fs-public\/2024-08\/CSDA_Program_USG_EULA_Generic_11-09-20_Rev3_0.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">USG EULA<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The mission of the CSDA Program is to identify, evaluate, and acquire data from commercial sources that support NASA&#8217;s Earth science research and application goals,&#8221; said CSDA Project Manager Dana Ostrenga. \u201cThe addition of these products from Satellogic and Vantor to the SDX demonstrates the CSDA Program\u2019s ongoing commitment to its mission, as well as to our objective of bringing high-quality, Earth observation data from NASA\u2019s commercial partners to the Earth Science community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>About SDX<\/p>\n<p>The SDX allows users to search, discover, and access a variety of Global Navigation Satellite System (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.earthdata.nasa.gov\/data\/space-geodesy-techniques\/gnss\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"40b30470-d135-4169-84ff-f44764ab5f7e\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"GNSS\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">GNSS<\/a>), digital elevation model (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.earthdata.nasa.gov\/topics\/land-surface\/digital-elevation-terrain-model-dem\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"edd4aed5-a4b3-4f36-8bad-8c513bbd5ad9\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"Digital Elevation\/Terrain Model (DEM)\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DEM<\/a>), synthetic aperture radar (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.earthdata.nasa.gov\/learn\/earth-observation-data-basics\/sar\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"09cd67ea-4b98-4f13-bcb6-f69ac77d1446\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR)\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SAR<\/a>), multispectral, and precipitation radar data acquired through the CSDA program.\u00a0It also provides streamlined data download, automated quota tracking, and a new coverage map that provides a high-level overview of the spatial coverage of the data discoverable through the SDX for any specified month and year.\u00a0For a summary of the NASA commercial partner datasets available in SDX, visit the SDX website.<\/p>\n<p>To order data from SDX, users must create an account with and be <a href=\"https:\/\/urs.earthdata.nasa.gov\/profile\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">logged in to\u00a0NASA Earthdata<\/a>.\u00a0(The initial attempt to use SDX will redirect users to Earthdata Login, where they will be prompted to enter their Earthdata credentials and accept the terms of the EULA.) Users must agree to the terms of the EULA before any data can be requested.
