{"id":309968,"date":"2026-01-29T15:22:18","date_gmt":"2026-01-29T15:22:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/309968\/"},"modified":"2026-01-29T15:22:18","modified_gmt":"2026-01-29T15:22:18","slug":"inside-2026-resonator-awards-with-chappell-roan-and-chaka-khan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/309968\/","title":{"rendered":"Inside 2026 Resonator Awards With Chappell Roan and Chaka Khan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/we-are-moving-the-needle\/\" id=\"auto-tag_we-are-moving-the-needle_1\" data-tag=\"we-are-moving-the-needle\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">We Are Moving The Needle<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/music\/\" id=\"auto-tag_music_1\" data-tag=\"music\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">music<\/a> non-profit meant to empower women, trans and non-binary producers and engineers, held its second annual Resonator Awards Tuesday night. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe dinner\u00a0\u2014 held at the recently bought and renamed Charlie Chaplin Studios in Hollywood \u2014 gathered the likes of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/chaka-khan\/\" id=\"auto-tag_chaka-khan_1\" data-tag=\"chaka-khan\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chaka Khan<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/chappell-roan\/\" id=\"auto-tag_chappell-roan_1\" data-tag=\"chappell-roan\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chappell Roan<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/joni-mitchell\/\" id=\"auto-tag_joni-mitchell_1\" data-tag=\"joni-mitchell\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Joni Mitchell<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/olivia-rodrigo\/\" id=\"auto-tag_olivia-rodrigo_1\" data-tag=\"olivia-rodrigo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Olivia Rodrigo<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/st-vincent\/\" id=\"auto-tag_st-vincent_1\" data-tag=\"st-vincent\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">St. Vincent<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/doechii\/\" id=\"auto-tag_doechii_1\" data-tag=\"doechii\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Doechii<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/addison-rae\/\" id=\"auto-tag_addison-rae_1\" data-tag=\"addison-rae\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Addison Rae<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/laufey\/\" id=\"auto-tag_laufey_1\" data-tag=\"laufey\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Laufey<\/a>, Haim, Amy Allen and more to honor women in the industry. The theme of the night can best be summarized in Allen, the first woman to win a Grammy Award for songwriter of the year only last year \u2014 \u201clong live women in music.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tHosted by comedian Fred Armisen, the evening served as an unofficial kick-off to Grammy Week, which brings nearly all of the music industry to Los Angeles for a week of parties, events and gatherings ahead of Sunday\u2019s award show. Tuesday\u2019s Resonator Awards marked the celebration\u2019s return after the devastating fires that swept through L.A. last January led to many Grammy Week events being canceled.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe star-studded list of those being celebrated ranged from performers to producers to engineers, along with a slew of others working to move the needle in the industry. Those being honored this year include Khan, Roan, St. Vincent, Haim, Allen, Gena Johnson, Jayda Love, Bella Blasko, Alissia, Elvira Anderfj\u00e4rd and Luka Kloser, Roselilah, Betty Bennett and Roger Davies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tRodrigo, Doechii, Rae, Laufey, The National\u2019s Aaron Dessner and Andersoon .Paak were among the evening\u2019s presenters. It was an intimate and lively affair, feeling less like a stuffy award show and more like an opportunity for those in the industry, both onstage and behind-the-scenes, a chance to catch up before the week\u2019s chaos truly begins. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tA mid-dinner auction also became a moment for the crowd to see one another. Doechii bid herself all the way to a new vacation \u2014 so excited by her victory that she later brought her winning number on stage when presenting the award to Love \u2014 and attendees John Mayer and Dave Grohl got mid-auction shoutouts for donating a hefty sum of money directly to the nonprofit\u2019s scholarship when that portion of the auction began. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tRoan was honored with the Harmonizer Award, a distinction meant for artists and creators who use their platform for social good. It was a perfect fit for the 27-year-old, whose rapid rise to stardom has been shaped by her dedication to giving back and organizing, particularly for the LGBTQ community.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cI feel very uncomfortable being told that I\u2019m a good person,\u201d The \u201cSubway\u201d singer told the crowd, chalking it up to \u201cChristian guilt\u201d or something of that nature. One of the last of the night to receive her honor during the over three-hour-long affair, the singer urged the teleprompter operator to abandon ship as she had cut her speech to a fourth of its length.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tBut the biggest things Roan urged the crowd to remember \u2014 the importance of community and the need for those who are able to give back. \u201cI kind of think it\u2019s just an artist, and anybody that has money, it\u2019s your duty to give it away,\u201d she said. \u201cI don\u2019t really know what else there is to harmony other than giving.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe singer, alluding to the state of the world as she wrapped up her remarks, hammered home that idea of community. \u201cI don\u2019t really know what\u2019s going to happen to women, gay people or people of color or really anyone, but I think that the only thing that matters is community and kindness and giving what you,\u201d she finished. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tIn the most touching moment of the night, 82-year-old Mitchell took the stage, met with a standing ovation, to honor and present an award to her friend, Khan. The legendary singer recalled their shared past, including a cheeky tale of Khan convincing Mitchell to dine and dash at a restaurant before Mitchell went back to pay the bill. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tKhan, presented with the Luminary Award, took the mic right off the stand and gleefully moved around the stage to accept. \u201cI\u2019m honored, of course, to get anything from anybody for any reason,\u201d she joked during her speech.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tMuch like Roan, Khan chose to end her speech with a reminder to the crowd. \u201cWhen women, and all creators are supported, we rise together,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cTo the honorees tonight, you are the future. To the leaders here, keep opening doors.
