The burst occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning, prompting the closure of Fairview Road and significant disruption during the morning commute, with garda\u00ed on site and Dublin Fire Brigade assisting with flooding in the area.<\/p>\n

Flooding at the location has since receded and Fairview Road reopened to traffic at approximately 11am.<\/p>\n

Uisce \u00c9ireann said crews attended the scene promptly and worked alongside An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na, Dublin Fire Brigade and specialist teams from Dublin City Council. Around 100 personnel from various agencies were involved in the response.<\/p>\n

Approximately 100,000 customers are continuing to experience reduced water pressure, while some households remain without supply. Crews are re-routing water through the network in an effort to minimise disruption to homes and businesses.<\/p>\n

Areas affected include Bayside, Collins Avenue, Howth Road, Raheny, Clontarf, Artane, Fairview, Kilbarrack, North Strand and Drumcondra.<\/p>\n

Uisce \u00c9ireann said water has been maintained to critical customers, including hospitals, and that vulnerable customers have been contacted while works remain ongoing.<\/p>\n

Earlier today, the utility confirmed that crews had isolated the burst, with repair works continuing under difficult, water-logged ground conditions.<\/p>\n

Due to those conditions, Uisce \u00c9ireann said it expects normal water supply to begin to be restored later this evening.<\/p>\n

Keith Conmy, Water Network Operations Manager at Uisce \u00c9ireann, said earlier that the company understood the scale of disruption caused.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a complex repair, and we appreciate the patience of customers and morning commuters as we work to restore normal water supply and reopen roads as quickly as possible,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Uisce \u00c9ireann advised that once supply is restored, customers may experience temporary discolouration as the network refills and recommended running the cold kitchen tap until the water runs clear.<\/p>\n

Following the completion of repair works, it typically takes three to four hours for normal supply to return to all customers, particularly those on higher ground or at the end of the network.<\/p>\n
