{"id":310129,"date":"2026-01-29T17:30:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-29T17:30:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/310129\/"},"modified":"2026-01-29T17:30:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-29T17:30:07","slug":"donegal-man-30s-to-stand-trial-on-46-alleged-sex-charges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/310129\/","title":{"rendered":"Donegal man, 30s, to stand trial on 46 alleged sex charges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A Co Donegal man is to stand trial on 46 sex-related charges.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The man appeared by videolink at Letterkenny District Court charged with the offences which include rape, sexual assault and the sexual exploitation of a child.<\/p>\n<p>He is charged with 10 counts of rape, contrary to section 48 of the Offences Against the Person Act, 1861 and section 2 of the Criminal Law (Rape) Act, 1981 as amended by section 21 of the Criminal Law (Rape) (Amendment) Act, 1990.<\/p>\n<p>He also faces 10 counts of rape contrary to section 4 of the Criminal Law (Rape) (Amendment) Act, 1990<\/p>\n<p>He is also charged with 12 counts of sexual assault and 12 counts of sexual exploitation of a child.<\/p>\n<p>All the offences are alleged to have happened at various locations between December 11th, 2019 and December 31st, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The man, who is in his 30s, cannot be named at present.<\/p>\n<p>Garda Sergeant Maurice Doyle told the court that he served a book of evidence on the accused man\u2019s solicitor, Ms Catherine Bonner.<\/p>\n<p>Garda Sergeant Jim Collins said the Director of Public Prosecutions had consented for the man to be sent forward to the current sitting of the Central Criminal Court for trial.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Bonner requested both a senior and junior counsel for the trial.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Emile Daly gave the accused man the alibi warning.<\/p>\n<p>No application was made for bail.<\/p>\n<p>Donegal man, 30s, to stand trial on 46 alleged sex charges was last modified:  January 29th, 2026 by Staff Writer<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A Co Donegal man is to stand trial on 46 sex-related charges.
