\u201cI\u2019ve been sitting with how to put this into words, so I\u2019m just going to be honest,\u201d the actress, best known for her portrayal of Emma Nelson on the hit series<\/a> for nine seasons between 2001 and 2010, wrote via Instagram<\/a> on Thursday, August 28, alongside a series of photos.<\/p>\n

McDonald, 38, was seen in a newly released trailer<\/a> speaking out about her experience on the show shortly after Drake<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s commentary, sparking hateful reactions from online trolls claiming she looked \u201cunrecognizable.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I watched the documentary back, I didn\u2019t feel good about how I looked,\u201d the star wrote in her caption while addressing the criticism. \u201cAbout a month or two before filming (which was almost two years ago now), I had Botox and filler done. Looking back, I regret that choice.\u201d<\/p>\n

McDonald admitted to trying cosmetic treatments to fix \u201clittle things\u201d that she wanted enhanced \u2014 including frown lines, \u201cunder-eye hollowness\u201d and her lips because \u201ceveryone else was doing it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I first saw the footage, I told myself, \u2018no one will even notice, Miriam, they\u2019ll be focused on the story<\/a>.\u2019 I was wrong. I want to be clear: I wasn\u2019t experiencing a medical issue or complication \u2014 just a lapse in judgment,\u201d she added. \u201cThankfully, Botox wears off and fillers dissolve over time. But interviews live forever online, and that version of me is now out there to stay.\u201d<\/p>\n
