Despite his hellraiser reputation, Liam Gallagher<\/a> is seemingly being welcomed into his new Cotswolds neighbourhood with open arms.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Oasis star, 53, recently purchased the \u00a34.2million mansion in the village of Coates near Cirencester and even took Liam to X to announce he was the newest celebrity resident in a corner of Britain that is quickly becoming a mini Hollywood due to its prevalence of A-listers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Indeed, the rural enclave, famed for its rolling green hills and chocolate box villages, is currently home to a insane number of celebrities including Sir David and Victoria Beckham<\/a>, Kate Moss<\/a>, Simon Cowell<\/a>,\u00a0\u00a0Ellen DeGeneres<\/a>\u00a0– with Beyonce<\/a> and Jay Z also said to be on the verge of buying too.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, Gallagher Jnr. was quick to insist he wasn’t ‘like all those divvy celebrities’, stressing: ‘To all the BEAUTIFUL people from the cotswolds I come in peace you won’t even know I’m there.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

And unlike some of his new A-list neighbours, Gallagher has previous in the Cotswolds and has been outspoken enough in his love of the area.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Prior to last year’s reunion tour, Liam and his\u00a0fianc\u00e9e Debbie Gwyther<\/a>\u00a0quit London to rent a magnificent Downton Abbey-style 11-bedroom country mansion near Stroud, Gloucestershire – which the star was reportedly shelling out \u00a319,000-a-month on.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This time though it seems the pair intend to make their move permanent and the base they have chosen is suitably impressive.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Once owned by former Arsenal and England legend Tony Adams, Liam’s new \u00a34.2m\u00a0 investment seems a canny purchase.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The sprawling property is set on five acres of prime countryside and includes all the amenities a celebrity could want including a pool, tennis courts and stables.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The sale even includes a two-bedroom cottage, which will presumably be handy for when Noel come to visit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The house sits just on the edge of the sleepy village of Coates, near Cirencester – which has a population of around 500 people.\u00a0<\/p>\n

When the Daily Mail visited the sleepy village this week, there were many residents excited to greet the rocker – and many more besides who claimed to have never heard of him.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Drummer Luke Bartels, 30, manager at Elliot Arms in nearby Cirencester said it will be great if he comes to the pub as they will ‘drown him in Madri’.<\/p>\n

‘I am sure a lot of people will love he is coming to the area,’ he said, adding: ‘It will be great if he comes to the pub. We will drown him in Madri. If he wants to pop at the Elliot Arms and we organise a jam I would be so up for that.’<\/p>\n

Luke added: ‘Welcome to the quiet life. Everything is calm and chill. Hope you enjoy your time. It will be great for all the pubs around. Big warm welcome.’<\/p>\n

Guido Desserafino, 38, owner of The Golden Farm in Cirencester, meanwhile said he would like to invite him to play at his pub.<\/p>\n

‘I love Oasis. I am also a musician for many years and I like his music. I have been an Oasis fan since I was a teenager. I would invite him to my pub to try our amazing roast dinner.<\/p>\n

‘If there’s a chance to shake Liam Gallagher’s hand I would be very happy. It would be lovely if he could pop in just for a pint we are open to accommodate whatever he wants.’<\/p>\n

Famous people who have lived nearby include Lily Allen – who is thought to still visit her dad Keith who lives in the area.<\/p>\n

Lily once claimed her and Liam had a ‘mile-high’ encounter on a plane to Japan<\/a> while he was married to Nicole Appleton<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But with a local calendar that includes events such as\u00a0Coffee, Cake and Chat, known by residents as ‘The CCC’ and\u00a0Texan Chilli Night being the only regular fixtures at the village hall – it seems opportunities for Liam to raise hell will be severely limited.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, when the Mail visited the village this week, some locals said the news of Liam’s arrival had put them on ‘red alert’ as they fear he could throw wild, late-night parties.\u00a0<\/p>\n

One immediate neighbour, whose architect-designed modern pile border Liam’s newly-acquired pad told the Mail he was welcome in the village on one condition: ‘As long as he does not throw huge parties, we’ll get along fine.<\/p>\n

‘His swimming pool is in the garden and it’s next to our garden so the noise would definitely travel over here.<\/p>\n

‘It’s always been such a lovely, peaceful place to live. We don’t want anything spoiling that peace.’<\/p>\n

The neighbour, in her late-50s but who asked not to be named, said: ‘I’m sure he’s a lovely man but I’m not much of an Oasis fan, to be truthful. I’m probably the wrong generation.<\/p>\n

‘A friend met him in a local pub and said he was very nice, though. I look forward to meeting him soon.<\/p>\n

‘I’ve enjoyed living next door to Tony and his wife, Poppy, and I’ll miss them. They’re lovely people – and very quiet.’<\/p>\n

Another neighbour, who asked not to be named, was also cautious about the imminent arrival of the singer. She said: ‘We’re all on red alert. I’ve heard he can be a party animal and we don’t want that kind of thing going on here.’<\/p>\n

Another neighbour, who lives in a sumptuous detached mansion looking out over farmland, said: ‘I’m trying to decide whether this guy’s arrival in the village has added a million quid to average house prices, or knocked it off.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, there are some who lean the other way, and hope to actually be a part of the ‘wild parties’ not yet thrown.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Fellow immediate neighbour, Alex, 52, excitedly insisted Liam would be ‘a welcome addition to village life here’, saying: ‘I hope he has a wonderful time here.<\/p>\n

‘I love Oasis because I kind-of grew up in that era and used to listen to their music a lot. If he does throw a party, he’d better invite me over.’<\/p>\n

Opportunities for Liam to meet his new neighbours will no doubt come in time, perhaps at the next ‘CCC’, which is held at the village hall every third Tuesday of the month.<\/p>\n

TV cameraman Stephen Makin, 63, whose wife helps organise the socials, seemed quietly optimistic that the singer could pop in, laughing:\u00a0‘I don’t see Liam turning up for that one, but you never know. If he does, he’s guaranteed a warm welcome and a slice of home-made cake.<\/p>\n

‘We’re a friendly bunch here, so I know he will be made to feel very welcome. I\u00a0can’t wait to say hello because I’ve always been a massive fan. I love their music and so do my three children.’<\/p>\n

Engineer Matthew Vaughan, 35, agreed. ‘Coates will embrace Liam. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. He’ll have no problem with us. But people won’t bother him. If he wants privacy, we’ll respect that.’<\/p>\n

Sadly, Liam timed his move to Coates too late for the Texan Chilli Night held at the village hall on Saturday evening.<\/p>\n

One of the organisers told the Mail it would have been right up the Wonderwall singers street however, saying ‘Liam would have had a great time last night and it would have been a fantastic opportunity to meet the locals.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘There were about 60 of us here and we had lots of fun. We had a slap-up meal and danced all night to music put on by a local DJ. No Oasis, though, I’m sorry to say.’<\/p>\n

Retired NHS worker Chris said she and Liam would likely get on as they are both fellow dog lovers\u00a0<\/p>\n

Another local, retired NHS cleaner Chris, 70, said she was ‘thrilled’ Liam has chosen Coates as his new base and hoped he would liven up the place.<\/p>\n

She revealed: ‘Love it! Coates is going to be such fun with him living here. But I don’t expect too much wild behaviour from him. He’s grown up a lot in recent years, from what I can tell, and I think living here will be really good for him.<\/p>\n

‘Like me, he’s a dog lover and there are some beautiful walks around here. The countryside is so peaceful and you can walk for miles and barely see a soul. I hope to see him when I’m out walking my dog, Bert. I think we’d get on well, even though he’s a Manc and I’m from originally Leeds.<\/p>\n

‘It’s good for the village that we’ve got Liam moving here. It’s certainly got everybody talking and most of us are very excited. I’m sure he knows this already because he must have visited, but it is very quiet here.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘There’s no pub, no shop and only three buses a day, if you’re lucky. Not that he needs to worry about the bus service, of course.’<\/p>\n

But, rather than wild parties, Liam’s past property purchases and planning battles might prove to be the most affective indicator of how the megastar is intending to enjoy his slice of the Cotswolds.<\/p>\n

As well as his country pile, Liam also owns a serene mock Tudor style home in one of north London’s quietest streets – which he has made substantial renovations to since he picked up the keys in 2019.<\/p>\n

Last year, the singer was granted permission to create his own relaxing oasis at the bottom of his garden, with the caveat that it is not to be used for ‘sleeping’.<\/p>\n

With five bedrooms, sprawling landscaped gardens and several hand-carved fireplaces, the home was purchased by Liam for an estimated \u00a34million\u00a0<\/p>\n

Planners warned at the time: ‘The outbuilding approved shall not be occupied other than for purposes incidental to residential use.<\/p>\n

‘For the avoidance of doubt, the structure shall not be utilised for any purposes which one would expect to be accommodated within the main dwelling, such as sleeping.’<\/p>\n

While clarifying this is ‘to ensure that the development does not prejudice the character of the locality and the amenities…of adjoining residential properties.<\/p>\n

The singer also wanted a high-security wall and gates at the \u00a34m pad which caused quite the stir with The Highgate Society who complained it would ‘create a most unfortunate precedent’, and said they could be ‘seriously affected by any ground water diversion’.<\/p>\n

And in May 2023, the musician reportedly butted heads with his neighbouring residents over some overhanging trees before being forced to cut them back – an arduous task made all the more arduous as the trees were under a preservation order.<\/p>\n

Things haven’t even been that peaceful abroad for Liam in his palatial villa in Provence, around a 30-minute drive from the millionaires’ playground of Cannes.<\/p>\n

Shortly after Liam bought the \u00a33m house from Noel Edmonds, he hired ex-pat Tom Ceze to tend the vast gardens, however according to Tom this relationship soured last year when he was terminated ‘without an explanation.’<\/p>\n

Last year, he reportedly fell out with his gardener Tom Ceze (pictured) who claimed he was ‘sacked without notice’<\/p>\n

Ranting on a local Facebook page, Tom said at the time: ‘This is not nice! We are in France! There are rules here… please act responsibly and at least have the balls to sack me face to face.’<\/p>\n

He later told the Mail: ‘I built my life around that job.’<\/p>\n

In April last year, as I was about to board a flight, his manager Gemma called to tell me I was being let go without notice.<\/p>\n

‘She didn’t provide any explanation; she just said they ‘don’t want you anymore’.<\/p>\n

‘I’ve been trying to contact Liam to say that losing this job has really messed up my life.<\/p>\n
