\n\tUnder a golden Los Angeles sunset, Sabrina Carpenter<\/a> and Spotify<\/a> treated a select group of the pop star\u2019s most devoted fans to an evening at the storied Hollywood Forever Cemetery. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe exclusive event, held Thursday night, marked the eve of Carpenter\u2019s seventh studio album, \u201cMan\u2019s Best Friend<\/a>.\u201d And as twilight settled in, the singer-songwriter took the stage for an intimate 30-minute conversation about the making of the record, and set the scene for the premiere of her \u201cTears<\/a>\u201d music video \u2014 featuring Colman Domingo in drag \u2014 and a nostalgic screening of the 1954 Audrey Hepburn classic \u201cSabrina.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMore than just the final resting place, the cemetery doubles as one of L.A.\u2019s most unique cultural landmarks, hosting everything from live concerts to cult-favorite film screenings beneath the stars. \u201cI used to come here and watch movies so I thought this would be a really special place to bring everybody,\u201d Carpenter told fans in a Q&A moderated by \u201cAdults\u201d actor Owen Thiele. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAnd since I\u2019m always like killing men,\u201d she shrugged, prompting roaring applause from fans sitting on blankets depicting the album art. \u201cThis is like a funeral and it\u2019s also the birth of a new album.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe 12-song set includes titles like \u201cManchild,\u201d which is the lead single (and her first No. 1 debut in the United States), and others such as \u201cWe Almost Broke Up Last Night\u201d and \u201cDon\u2019t Worry I\u2019ll Make You Worry.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis creative process was all about sort of embracing spontaneity, all about embracing impulses that I was having and experiences that I was having that were really urgent to write about,\u201d she said. \u201cKnowing that if I didn\u2019t make this album, and have it represent the chapter of my life that it represents, that it would have turned into something else\u2026 and I think that would have done it disservice to this album. So I\u2019m really grateful that I just get to write music I love and put it out, and I\u2019m more grateful to you guys for listening to it and letting me.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tCarpenter\u2019s fans were just as chatty as she was, eagerly responding to her listing her favorite songs she\u2019s ever written. Of her latest, she chose \u201cMy Man on Willpower\u201d and \u201cWe Almost Broke Up Again.\u201d She chose \u201cDon\u2019t Smile\u201d from her Grammy-winning \u201cShort n\u2019 Sweet\u201d LP, and got the loudest applause when she named \u201cBecause I Liked a Boy\u201d from 2022\u2019s \u201cEmails I Can\u2019t Send.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tIn the fan questions portion of the evening, a listener asked her how she gets out of ruts, or how she helps herself overcome any feelings of self-doubt in relation to putting out new music. Taking a moment to pause and think, she continued: \u201cI get so excited to put things out. But as any artist does\u2026 it\u2019s also very scary and vulnerable. And so I think, I think when I want to get myself out of the rut, I sort am just like\u2026 \u2018So many bitches wish they were you!’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCarpenter will perform these songs and more for her appearances at the Austin City Limits Music Festival in October.
