Priyanka Chopra is set to make her comeback to Indian cinema with the much-anticipated Telugu film Varanasi, directed by SS Rajamouli and starring Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran. In an interview with CinemaBlend, she revealed that she made one specific request before agreeing to join the project \u2014 and it resulted in an energetic dance sequence that Mahesh Babu himself ended up performing.<\/p>\n

Discussing her decision to return to Indian films after a long hiatus, Priyanka said she asked Rajamouli \u201cwill you make me dance?\u201d \u2014 a plea she\u2019d held onto because she hadn\u2019t danced in an Indian film in years. \u201cI have one request, will you make me dance? Please, because I haven’t danced for so long\u2026 Whoa, I should not have asked, because we are dancing. Oh my gosh, there\u2019s a lot,\u201d she recalled. \u201cAnd poor Mahesh was like, \u2018It\u2019s because of you. Because of you, I have to do it too.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Mahesh Babu confirmed that the resulting sequence has become a highlight of their collaboration so far, describing it as \u201csensational.\u201d He added that one song, already shot, keeps playing in their minds and that Priyanka often sings it. \u201cIt\u2019s sensational. And, I think one song we’ve already shot for it, and it just keeps playing in our minds. And [Priyanka] keeps singing it all the time. And, that song was because she wanted to dance and\u2026 And, he made her dance.\u201d<\/p>\n

The film Varanasi, which follows SS Rajamouli\u2019s previous blockbuster RRR, continues to generate excitement across fan communities. The combination of Rajamouli\u2019s directorial vision, Mahesh Babu\u2019s presence, and Priyanka Chopra\u2019s return to Indian cinema has created anticipation for both the narrative and its musical components.<\/p>\n

The film is slated to release on April 7, 2027.<\/p>\n
