Ahead of its screening at SXSW<\/a> in Austin, Texas, next month, a new still from Obsession<\/strong> has been released.<\/p>\n

It features Michael Johnston<\/strong> (\u201cTeen Wolf\u201d) taking an phone call in a restaurant while Inde Navarrette <\/strong>(\u201cSuperman & Lois\u201d) looks on in the background.<\/p>\n

Written and directed by Curry Barker<\/strong> (Milk & Serial), the buzzy horror film will be released in theaters on May 15<\/strong> via Focus Features and Blumhouse.<\/p>\n

In the movie, after breaking the mysterious One Wish Willow to win his crush\u2019s heart, a hopeless romantic finds himself getting exactly what he asked for but soon discovers that some desires come at a dark, sinister price.<\/p>\n

Johnston and Navarrette star alongside Cooper Tomlinson <\/strong>(Milk & Serial), Megan Lawless<\/strong> (\u201cThe Girl from Plainville\u201d), and Andy Richter<\/strong> (\u201cConan\u201d).<\/p>\n

James Harris, Haley Nicole Johnson, Christian Mercuri, and Roman Viaris produce, with\u00a0Jason Blum, Leonora Darby, Mark Lane, David Haring, and Ruzanna Kegeyan executive producing.<\/p>\n

Obsession premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this year, followed by screenings at Fantastic Fest and Sitges, where it won the People\u2019s Choice Award.<\/p>\n

Meagan Navarro wrote in her review<\/a> out of TIFF, \u201cWhile Monkey\u2019s Paw scenarios often yield predictable outcomes, and this outcome is practically telegraphed from the start, Barker manages to surprise with the journey itself. And it\u2019s one insane journey paved with blood-soaked violence and no shortage of nightmare fuel.\u201d<\/p>\n

Barker\u2019s next film, Anything But Ghosts<\/a>, is set to be produced with Blumhouse and Spooky Pictures.<\/p>\n
