Dearest gentle reader, the ton may soon be preparing for a funeral.<\/p>\n

As rumors swirl around what’s to come when the final four episodes of Bridgerton<\/a> season four release Feb. 26, the novelist behind the beloved historical romance universe, Julia Quinn<\/strong> warned that fans may walk away in mourning.<\/p>\n

“I can just say, get your tissues ready, because it’s rough,” she told Us Weekly<\/a> in an interview published Feb. 5. “When I visited the set, they were filming scenes and I saw a scene that was\u2014at the same time incredibly joyful and just heart-wrenching\u2014so, yeah, you’re gonna need tissues for part 2.”<\/p>\n

In the part two trailer, a somber Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell<\/strong>) even traded in her usual pastel looks for a black gown. As for who the elites of Mayfair could possibly say goodbye to before season four’s end, well, the books may point to the unlucky character.<\/p>\n

To Sir Phillip, With Love\u2014which follows Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie<\/strong>) and Phillip Crane (Chris Fulton<\/strong>)\u2014begins with the death of his wife Marina Crane (Ruby Barker<\/strong>). But she isn’t the only Bridgerton whose love story was centered on grief. <\/p>\n

As Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd<\/strong>) acclimated to married life with John Stirling (Victor Alli<\/strong>) in When He Was Wicked, her husband ultimately died. She would go on to find love with John’s cousin, Michael Stirling, who was introduced in the season three finale as Michaela (Masali Baduza<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

When it comes to Francesca’s storyline, Hannah teased that her character is struggling with an internal battle<\/a> as she navigates her marriage to John and her undeniable affinity for his cousin.<\/p>\n

“Michaela is a massive tornado in Francesca’s life,” she told E! News in a January interview. “Something happened in Scotland\u2014there was something there that I think Michaela is a presence that’s quite confronting for Francesca.” <\/p>\n

It didn’t help that John’s cousin spontaneously arrived in Mayfair as the newlyweds had the Bridgerton kids over for dinner.<\/p>\n

“John and Francesca have got closer and closer, and really worked hard on their relationship,” she added. “[They] really faced some quite difficult conversations and grown really close, and they’re finally in this really, really good place.”<\/p>\n

“She’s opened their home\u2014it’s such a gorgeous metaphor, like letting everybody in, being proud of her relationship,” she continued. “And then Michaela shows up again. She knows it’s going to be carnage and it’s going to throw her off.”<\/p>\n
