Kid Rock\u2019s<\/strong> alternative Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday night resulted in increased scrutiny surrounding some of the rock star\u2019s past comments, as many on the MAGA right called Bad Bunny\u2019s<\/strong> performance immoral and un-American while lauding Kid Rock\u2019s appearance<\/a> at the Turning Point USA event.<\/p>\n Many users online pointed to a 2001 song Kid Rock released called \u201cCool, Daddy Cool.\u201d In the song, Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie<\/strong>, sings about liking underage girls. One of the lyrics in the song goes, \u201cYoung ladies, young ladies, I like \u2019em underage, see. Some say that\u2019s statutory (But I say it\u2019s mandatory).\u201d<\/p>\n Kid Rock\u2019s Saturday Night Live appearance from April of 2001 also went viral ahead of his Sunday show, as he said on the episode that Mary Kate <\/strong>and Ashley Olsen<\/strong> \u201cwere old enough to pursue\u201d \u2013 despite the famous twins being 14 at the time.<\/p>\n During the regular Weekend Update skit on SNL, Kid Rock joked, \u201cWhy is every guy in America waiting for these chicks to turn 18? I mean, you know what I\u2019m saying? If there\u2019s grass on the field, play ball!\u201d<\/p>\n Kid Rock appeared on Laura Ingraham\u2019s<\/strong> Fox News show on Monday night and took a victory lap of sorts, after being widely praised for his performance by the right all day. Fox\u2019s Emily Compagno<\/strong> said<\/a> earlier in the day that the alternative halftime show had her \u201cmoved to tears.\u201d<\/p>\n Kid Rock\u2019s critics, however, had a very different take. Zeteo\u2019s Mehdi Hasan<\/strong> shared the rocker\u2019s comments on SNL and wrote, \u201cThis is their hero. This is who brought Megyn Kelly to tears and who RFK was hanging out with.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s hilarious that the conservative alternative to Bad Bunny was Kid Rock rapping about porno, meth, crack heads, gang violence & hookers.
