{"id":333402,"date":"2026-02-12T10:40:10","date_gmt":"2026-02-12T10:40:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/333402\/"},"modified":"2026-02-12T10:40:10","modified_gmt":"2026-02-12T10:40:10","slug":"samsung-ships-latest-hbm4-chips-to-catch-up-in-ai-race","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/333402\/","title":{"rendered":"Samsung ships latest HBM4 chips to catch-up in AI race"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">By Hyunjoo Jin<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">SEOUL, Feb 12 (Reuters) &#8211; Samsung Electronics said on Thursday it had started shipping its most advanced HBM4 chips to \u200cunnamed customers, as it tries to narrow the gap with \u200crivals in supplying critical parts for <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/NVDA\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:Nvidia;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nvidia<\/a>&#8216;s AI accelerators.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">The global rush to build AI data \u200bcenters has fuelled demand for such chips that feed massive amounts of data to AI accelerators for training and running AI models.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">Samsung, the world&#8217;s top memory chipmaker, had been slow in responding to the advanced HBM chip market, \u200clagging behind rivals, including \u2060SK Hynix, in supplying previous-generation HBM chips.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">But Samsung aims to narrow the gap with SK Hynix, the dominant leader. \u2060Song Jai-hyuk, chief technology officer for Samsung Electronics&#8217; chip division, touted the performance of its HBM4 chips on Wednesday, saying customer feedback had been &#8220;very satisfactory.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">Samsung \u200bsaid its \u200bHBM4 delivers a consistent processing speed \u200bof 11.7 gigabits-per-second (Gbps), a 22% \u200cincrease from its predecessor, HBM3E.
