\n\tThe FX<\/a> series, Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette<\/a>, digs deep into the lore of the iconic \u201990s power couple and features many real life characters including members of the Kennedy clan like Caroline, Jackie and Ted to bold-faced names like Calvin Klein, Michael Bergin and onetime JFK Jr. girlfriend Daryl Hannah<\/a>, whom Jackie disapproved of.<\/p>\n \n\tThe latter is played by actress Dree Hemingway, who did not follow Jacobson\u2019s general rule of not engaging \u2014 but for good reason. Hannah is a friend of her famous mother, actress Mariel Hemingway, and though she\u2019s never met the star of Splash and Kill Bill, she adores her anyway. How did you approach playing Daryl Hannah?<\/strong><\/p>\n \n\tI mean, I love her so much. It\u2019s an incredible and iconic shoe to fill, but Ryan [Murphy] and Connor Hines, who wrote everything, were so great at characterizing Daryl. The show is definitely told from a fictional aspect because we don\u2019t know what happened [behind closed doors]. But it was amazing. She\u2019s amazing. I love her.<\/p>\n \n\tDo you know her personally?<\/strong><\/p>\n \n\tI don\u2019t know her personally. My mother knows her. Our paths haven\u2019t crossed yet, but hopefully in the future. I would love that. <\/p>\n \n\tDid you reach out at all?<\/strong><\/p>\n \n\tI reached out. Were you friends with Ryan Murphy before this?<\/strong><\/p>\n \n\tNo, I wasn\u2019t friends with Ryan before. I love him. He\u2019s such a genius. I\u2019ve been a huge fan from afar, and when I was asked to audition for this part, I was like, \u201cYes!\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tWatching the first episode, it\u2019s so easy to fall back into that time and into this story. How did you feel when you watched it?<\/strong><\/p>\n \n\tThey were our living Romeo and Juliet. It was also such an iconic time \u2014 the \u201890s in New York. The fashion was amazing. The music was amazing, and there wasn\u2019t the internet. It\u2019s cool, and it still has this mystery. I think that\u2019s why this show is so great and why it can be such a creative fiction is because it was during that time.<\/p>\n \n\tHow are you watching yourself onscreen?<\/strong><\/p>\n \n\tI have moments where I\u2019m really critical, and then sometimes it\u2019s easier for me to step away and see it as an art form. This show, for me, is one that I can very much step back from and view. I am still nervous as hell.<\/p>\n \n\tWhat\u2019s been the most unexpected moment that\u2019s happened for you so far in your career?<\/strong><\/p>\n \n\tSean Baker is responsible for my most unexpected moment [with Starlet]. I really owe my whole entire career to him.<\/p>\n \n\tWhat a great person to owe your career to, too, by the way. He\u2019s such a good guy and also keeps his artists around him that he\u2019s worked with.<\/strong><\/p>\n \n\tHe is still my friend to this day, and I think he\u2019s so brilliant and really salt-of-the-earth.<\/p>\n \n\tI went to see Charli XCX\u2019s The Moment here in L.A. and saw him sitting next to Simon Rex. He maintains relationships with his actors and collaborators and that\u2019s cool to see. <\/strong><\/p>\n \n\tHe creates real bonds. He\u2019s in this for life.
