By April 18, sunset is expected around 8.30pm, and by the end of the month, it will be close to 9pm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">For anyone with a <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishmirror.ie\/all-about\/smart-phone\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">smartphone <\/a>or smartwatch, your device will automatically jump ahead from 1am to 2am on March 29, but decorative or manual clocks will need to be adjusted by hand.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">While the change means <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishmirror.ie\/all-about\/sleep\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">losing an hour of sleep<\/a>, it also means longer evenings to enjoy the natural daylight.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Enjoying the sunshine at Bray Head, Co Wicklow\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1_ireland-weather-sun-dublin-beach.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p aria-label=\"Enjoying the sunshine at Bray Head, Co Wicklow\" class=\"ImageCaption_caption-title__ccyQU\" data-testid=\"caption-title\">Enjoying the sunshine at Bray Head, Co Wicklow(Image: Colin Keegan, Collins Dublin)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Ireland isn&#8217;t alone in this seasonal shift. All EU member states move their clocks forward for Daylight Saving Time, a practice designed to make the most of natural daylight as the Earth orbits the sun.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishmirror.ie\/all-about\/european-union\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">European Union<\/a> voted in 2019 to potentially end Daylight Saving Time altogether after 2021, following a survey showing most people would prefer not to switch clocks twice a year.
