An Irish protestor has been hospitalised after being struck and arrested by the police during a protest in Berlin.<\/p>\n
Kitty O’Brien was protesting against the killing of journalists in Gaza by Israeli strikes when they were struck twice in the face by German police.<\/p>\n
In a video widely circulated on social media, the Dubliner can be seen being arrested with blood dripping down their nose after being punched twice by a police officer.<\/p>\n
Footage shows the protestor telling someone recording the incident that they think their arm is broken, as they are being arrested.<\/p>\n
The Department of Foreign Affairs told the Irish Examiner\u00a0it is “aware of the incident in question”.<\/p>\n
“The Ambassador in Berlin and senior officials in the Department have conveyed our concern about the incident to the German authorities,” said the spokesperson.<\/p>\n
“Officials in the Department stand ready to provide consular assistance to the citizen concerned, should they request it,”\u00a0 added the spokesperson.<\/p>\n
