Joan undergoes the procedure and wakes up a beautiful blonde destined for the crown, but at what cost?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vivian Wu<\/strong> (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III), <strong>Maitreyi Ramakrishnan<\/strong> (\u201cNever Have I Ever\u201d), <strong>Amelie Zilber<\/strong> (\u201cGrown-ish\u201d), and <strong>Fang Du<\/strong> also star.<\/p>\n<p>Writer-director <strong>Amy Wang<\/strong> (\u201cThe Brothers Sun\u201d) makes her feature debut on the project, which premiered at last year\u2019s SXSW and took home the Narrative Grand Jury Award.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs an immigrant, I\u2019ve always been aware that I looked different,\u201d Wang commented. \u201cAs a teenager trying desperately to fit in, I used to wake up and wonder, \u2018Wouldn\u2019t life just be easier if I were white?\u2019 Slanted is a satirical exploration of whiteness that challenges that question. It examines the cost of chasing acceptance, and what it means to abandon yourself in the process. Is belonging worth losing who you are for a system that was never built to value you?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>From Tideline Entertainment and Mountain Top Pictures, producers include Wang, Trevor Wall, Adel \u201cFuture\u201d Nur, Cameron Boling, and Mark Ankner.<\/p>\n<p>Meagan Navarro <a href=\"https:\/\/bloody-disgusting.com\/reviews\/3858694\/slanted-dead-lover-tick-sxsw-2025\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">wrote in her review<\/a>, \u201cAs personal as Slanted feels, the superficial nature of its satire winds up softening a lot of its sharper edges. That likely suits its teen demographic well but won\u2019t be as winsome for seasoned horror fans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Slanted is rated R for \u201clanguage, some sexual material, teen drug use, and brief violent content\/bloody images.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Grace can next be seen in <a href=\"https:\/\/bloody-disgusting.com\/movie\/3936349\/neve-campbell-isabel-may-kevin-williamson-talk-scream-7s-mother-daughter-connection\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Scream 7<\/a> on February 27, followed by <a href=\"https:\/\/bloody-disgusting.com\/movie\/3917076\/the-hunger-games-sunrise-on-the-reaping-teaser-a-new-era-of-the-games-begins-in-one-year\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping<\/a>, out November 20.
