THE LATE Sean Flanagan of Knocklong<\/a> is being remembered as \u201can absolute gentleman to his very core\u201d following his sudden passing on Thursday.<\/p>\n

An air ambulance and ambulances responded after he took ill but despite the best efforts of paramedics, Mr Flanagan sadly passed away.<\/p>\n

His grieving family have asked for donations in lieu of flowers to go to the Irish Heart Foundation<\/a> in memory of Mr Flanagan.<\/p>\n

He was the dearly beloved husband of Rosemary (n\u00e9e Fitzgerald) and loving father of Fionn, Aine and Hugh, son of heartbroken parents Brendan and Catherine (Kitty), and loving brother of Emer, Brendan, Oliver and Catherine.<\/p>\n

Son, Limerick senior hurler and U20 county star Hugh Flanagan didn\u2019t play for Garryspillane in a club match on Thursday evening. Another son, Fionn is a talented rugby player with Bruff RFC who has represented Ireland and Munster at U18 level.<\/p>\n

Mr Flanagan is also sadly missed by his mother-in-law Maureen, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law,nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family. neighbours and many friends.<\/p>\n

Countless tributes have been paid on rip.ie.<\/p>\n

\u201cAn absolute gentleman to his very core. We will miss Sean greatly. His humour brightened many’s the difficult day. Rest in peace friend,\u201d wrote one.<\/p>\n

Former mayor and councillor, Gerald Mitchell said: \u201cMy deepest condolences to all the family relations and friends. May Sean’s gentle soul rest in eternal peace.\u201d<\/p>\n

A condolence from the board of management, staff and pupils of Knocklong NS reads: \u201cOur heartfelt sympathy to you all on the untimely passing of your beloved husband \/ dad Se\u00e1n. Thinking of you all at this devastating time. May Se\u00e1n rest in eternal peace.<\/p>\n

A post on the Garryspillane GAA Facebook page says: \u201cEveryone involved with The Bouncers offer our sincere condolences to Rosemary, Fionn, Aine and Hugh on the passing of Sean. Ar dheis D\u00e9 go raibh a anam.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bruff RFC also took to social media to pay their respects.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom everyone at Bruff RFC, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to our senior player Fionn, Hugh who played with us through underage, and the rest of the Flanagan family on the passing of Sean. May he rest in peace.\u201d<\/p>\n

Knocklong Development Association have also extended their sympathies.<\/p>\n

Funeral arrangements have been announced with Mr Flanagan reposing at his home in Knocklong this Sunday evening, August 31, from 4pm to 7pm.<\/p>\n

Reception into St Joseph’s Church, Knocklong on Monday for Requiem Mass at 11.30am. followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.<\/p>\n

May he rest in peace.<\/p>\n
