{"id":347338,"date":"2026-02-20T14:24:07","date_gmt":"2026-02-20T14:24:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/347338\/"},"modified":"2026-02-20T14:24:07","modified_gmt":"2026-02-20T14:24:07","slug":"tidal-expands-its-spotlight-program-to-canada-uk-and-europe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/347338\/","title":{"rendered":"Tidal expands its \u2018Spotlight\u2019 program to Canada, UK and Europe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last November, we reported on Tidal\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/musically.com\/2025\/11\/14\/tidal-adds-a-soundcloud-esque-upload-feature-for-diy-artists\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">pivot towards SoundCloud-style direct uploads<\/a>\u00a0from artists.<\/p>\n<p>Those tracks would not generate royalties, but a weekly \u2018Spotlight\u2019 program saw Tidal\u2019s editors choose \u2018Upload\u2019 tracks for playlist and homepage placement, as well as one-off payments via sister-platform Cash App.<\/p>\n<p>At launch, the program was only available in the US, but now \u2018Spotlight\u2019 is expanding to other countries. It will now include artists who live in Canada, the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Poland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Norway and Switzerland.<\/p>\n<p>Tidal noted in its announcement that uploaded tracks will be considered for \u2018Spotlight\u2019 until the end of June 2026, adding that \u201cselected tracks are eligible to receive a one-time award of US$1,000\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>There is no news, for now, on Tidal\u2019s own future within parent company Block \u2013\u00a0which\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/musically.com\/2024\/11\/08\/block-confirms-we-are-scaling-back-our-investment-in-tidal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">said in November 2024 that it was \u201cscaling back our investment\u201d in its music-streaming subsidiary<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps an update will come in Block\u2019s Q4 financials announcement, which is set for 26 February.
