{"id":3502,"date":"2025-08-16T22:36:13","date_gmt":"2025-08-16T22:36:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/3502\/"},"modified":"2025-08-16T22:36:13","modified_gmt":"2025-08-16T22:36:13","slug":"peta-wants-mario-kart-world-to-remove-cows-nose-ring","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/3502\/","title":{"rendered":"PETA Wants &#8216;Mario Kart World&#8217; To Remove Cow&#8217;s Nose Ring"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/nintendo\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nintendo<\/a> has recently learned, if you mess with the bull, you get <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/peta\/\">PETA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) recently shared their beef with the Japanese video game company in a letter to Nintendo president, Shuntaro Furukawa, over its depiction of the character Cow in <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/mario-kart-world\/\" id=\"auto-tag_mario-kart-world\" data-tag=\"mario-kart-world\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mario Kart World<\/a>, which released in June on Switch 2.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tPETA\u2019s SVP of Marketing Engagement, Joel Bartlett, <a href=\"https:\/\/action.peta2.com\/page\/86849\/petition\/1?utm_source=peta::twitter&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=0815::gen::peta::twitter::nintendo-cow-response::::caption\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">wrote in part<\/a> in the letter: \u201cWe herd there\u2019s a new star in Mario Kart World: Cow! She is already winning hearts everywhere\u2014including ours. But one detail has us hitting the brakes: The brass ring in Cow\u2019s nose. Would you please show empathy towards bovines and remove the nose ring?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tNoting that in real life, the meat and dairy industries use cows\u2019 nose rings \u201cto exploit, control and even drag animals to their deaths,\u201d they detailed, \u201cThese brass rings are crudely stabbed through the sensitive septum of cows and bulls, which can cause lasting pain and discomfort.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cThe brass ring in Cow\u2019s nose glosses over real world violence and cruelty to animals. That\u2019s why we\u2019re asking you to give this beloved bovine a small but meaningful upgrade: Remove the nose ring and let Cow race freely\u2014without any painful reminders of the industries that treat animals like profit-making machines,\u201d the letter concluded. \u201cEvery animal is someone. So leave the rings to Sonic and let Cow breathe free!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tOn social media, fans of the game took the letter with a grain of salt. \u201cThe hell is PETA of all organizations telling them this now?? The Moo Moo cow has always had a nose ring in the Mario Kart universe, and it\u2019s not even a real animal,\u201d one person <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SailLore_1\/status\/1956387852972920905\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cI have much respect for animals, but I gotta ask. Does Peta have anything better to do with their time than complain about the Mario Kart World cow design?\u201d another <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Lanman106\/status\/1956758819440390196\">posted<\/a>. \u201cLike maybe get companies to treat their actual livestock better before you ask Nintendo to change a fictional cow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIn response to a headline, one fan humorously <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Robbie_Chirps\/status\/1956461632298586197\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">wrote<\/a>, \u201cBREAKING NEWS: Mario Kart World has called for PETA to remove the stick from their paid to play ARSE!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe letter is PETA\u2019s latest complaint against Nintendo, previously calling out <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.peta.org\/features\/animal-crossing-new-horizons-vegan\/\">Animal Crossing: New Horizons<\/a> for having players fish and catch bugs on a desert island, in addition to releasing their \u201canimal-friendly\u201d parody games <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/games.peta.org\/mario-kills-tanooki\/\">Mario Kills Tanooki<\/a> and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/games.peta.org\/pokemon-black-and-white-parody\/\">Pok\u00e9mon Black and Blue<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Nintendo has recently learned, if you mess with the bull, you get PETA.
