Arsenal looked the more dangerous team, although their opportunities were largely limited to set-pieces.

Liverpool would grow into the game as the second half went on, looking like the more likely to score. In the end, it would take a moment of absolute genius from Dominik Szboszlai to finally break the deadlock.

Dominik Szoboszlai. In contrast, the home side were intent on going for broke.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the final whistle, Roy Keane said that Liverpool’s willingness to attack was the difference between the sides. He also gave Declan Rice’s continuous attempts to take the sting out of the game that sums up the issues Arsenal have when it comes to winning the biggest fixtures.

Arsenal’s attacking play wasn’t good enough…

I think it’s great when you have a defensive record like they have and they are very good at set-pieces, you’ve got to give Arsenal a thumbs up for that.

But if you’re just depending on that all the time and then you’re coming to Liverpool away, Liverpool were defending them well, obviously it’s hard to score at Liverpool. Do something a little bit different.

[Declan] Rice was walking up taking corners and it was taking ages. Slowing the game down is part of their tactics and getting people in position.

But you’re looking at Arsenal thinking ‘do something off the cuff, do something quickly’. There was a bit of rush in their at the end when they were chasing the goal, but in general play you’re thinking ‘do something quick’.

In general play they’re still a bit robotic. There’s nothing wrong with set-pieces, but you have to find something else.

Sometimes you don’t get what you deserve in this game. You’ve got to find a way to win football matches.

Arsenal boasted an unbeaten record against the other ‘big six’ clubs over the last couple of years, although quite a few of those games ended as draws. Mikel Arteta is yet to win at either Anfield or The Etihad as a manager, fixtures that have often proven to be decisive wins in the title race in recent seasons.

As for Liverpool, this victory will give them confidence that they can go on and claim a second successive Premier League title over the coming months.

SEE ALSO: Chris Sutton Says Celtic’s Use Of Ireland Star Sums Up Failings Of The Club

Liverpool have secured a potentially key victory in the Premier League title race, gaining an early advantage over…

[3
2725,9,10,18,13,14,6,19,17,11,12,15,16,5,7,8
0":"post-35125","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-headlines","8":"tag-arsenal","9":"tag-breaking-news","10":"tag-breakingnews","11":"tag-eire","12":"tag-featured-news","13":"tag-featurednews","14":"tag-headlines","15":"tag-ie","16":"tag-ireland","17":"tag-latest-news","18":"tag-latestnews","19":"tag-main-news","20":"tag-mainnews","21":"tag-news","22":"tag-top-stories","23":"tag-topstories
["GET
