Rebecca Gayheart, wife of Grey\u2019s Anatomy and Euphoria star Eric Dane<\/a>, is thanking her community for the support they\u2019re showing after Dane\u2019s death. \u201cI am so blown away by the outpouring of love and support from our community,\u201d she wrote on Instagram Stories. \u201cThere aren\u2019t words to express our gratitude. You are truly holding us up during this difficult time.\u201d Dane died of complications from Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) on February 19<\/a>. Since then, friends and castmates have been sharing their grief on social media. Everyone from Grey\u2019s creator Shonda Rhimes<\/a> to Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney have reached out. A GoFundMe was also set up for Dane\u2019s family, but it is now on hold<\/a>.<\/p>\n Gayheart and Dane wed in 2004. They had two daughters together \u2014 Billie in 2010 and and Georgia in 2011. Gayheart filed for divorce in 2018, but withdrew it after Dane\u2019s ALS diagnosis. Gayheart said in November 2025 podcast appearance<\/a> that she withdrew the divorce petition to show her daughters that \u201cWe show up for people no matter what,\u201d adding \u201cI don\u2019t know if I\u2019m doing it well or in the wrong way or right way, I\u2019m just showing up and trying to be there for them.\u201d<\/p>\n Both Dane and Gayheart were candid about their complicated family dynamic in the months leading up to his death. \u201cSpending all this time together, it\u2019s all been really positive, and I think it\u2019s nice for the kids to see maybe a softer side of us,\u201d Gayheart wrote in The Cut<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s not that they have the hopes of us being together \u2014 kids always dream of their parents getting back together, and I think now ours don\u2019t because they understand the reality of the situation. And hopefully, what they see instead are two adults who are trying to be mature and focus on what\u2019s important.\u201d Dane said on Netflix\u2019s Famous Last Words<\/a> that he still loves Gayheart: \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of love there.
