{"id":354855,"date":"2026-02-25T03:12:10","date_gmt":"2026-02-25T03:12:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/354855\/"},"modified":"2026-02-25T03:12:10","modified_gmt":"2026-02-25T03:12:10","slug":"average-irish-weekly-earnings-increase-3-1-to-e1011-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/354855\/","title":{"rendered":"Average Irish weekly earnings increase 3.1% to \u20ac1,011 \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Average weekly earnings increased 3.1 per cent to more than \u20ac1,011 in the last three months of last year, according to data from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/central-statistics-office\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/central-statistics-office\/\">Central Statistics Office (CSO).<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The largest annual percentage increase was 6.8 per cent in the accommodation and food services sector, rising from \u20ac448.20 to \u20ac478.67. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The second largest increase was 6.2 per cent in the financial, insurance and real estate sector, which rose from \u20ac1,339.25 to \u20ac1,422.89 over the year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Average weekly earnings rose by 11.8 per cent in the three years to the quarter, and all sectors saw increases in average weekly earnings over that period.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Average hourly earnings grew by 3.4 per cent to \u20ac31.22, while average weekly paid hours decreased from 32.5 to 32.4. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Average hourly earnings rose by 11.9 per cent over a three year period from \u20ac27.90 to \u20ac31.22, while average paid hours remained the same at 32.4 hours.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"c-image audio_image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1754647931518-c07d65db-55b5-463e-ae51-976300c5837e.jpeg\"\/>Could Simon Harris\u2019s savings scheme for the \u2018middle classes\u2019 prove to be a sound investment?<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The average hourly total labour costs were \u20ac36.70 across all economic sectors. Information and communication had the highest average hourly total labour costs at \u20ac59.53, followed by \u20ac49.52 in education and \u20ac49.41 in financial, insurance and real estate activities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The sectors with the lowest cost of employing labour were the accommodation and food services sector at \u20ac20.07, and the arts, entertainment, recreation and other service activities sector at \u20ac27.17.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Average hourly total labour costs increased by 12.9 per cent over three years, from \u20ac32.51 per hour to \u20ac36.70.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The job vacancy rate was 1.3 per cent, down 0.1 per cent from the end of the previous quarter. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The highest vacancy rates were 5.7 per cent in the public administration and defence sector, followed by 2.5 per cent in the professional, scientific and technical activities sector.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">There were 30,200 job vacancies, at the end of the quarter, which was an increase of 3,300 from the 26,900 vacancies a year earlier.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Average weekly earnings increased by 3.7 per cent across the public sector, rising from \u20ac1,186.72 to \u20ac1,230.11.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The Garda had the highest average weekly earnings and average weekly paid hours in the public sector at \u20ac1,558.72 and 41.2 hours respectively.
