Curtis pulled a plastic container of romaine lettuce out of the fridge and was about to open it up when he noticed something strange inside the box.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"1\">\u201cI saw this green blob,\u201d Curtis said in a video for The Dodo.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1772087949_951_scale;webp=auto;jpeg_quality=60.jpg\"  alt=\"green frog inside salad box\" width=\"700\" height=\"796\" style=\"display:block;height:auto;aspect-ratio:700 \/ 796\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>The Dodo<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">As Curtis looked closer, he realized that the green thing he\u2019d seen in the container was actually a tree frog. He was shocked \u2014 he\u2019d never expected to find an animal, let alone a frog, in his food. The tiny amphibian, who\u2019d been sitting in the fridge for hours, seemed just as stunned as Curtis was.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"1\">\u201cHe was really cute, and he was so cold that he was almost perfectly still,\u201d Curtis said.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"2\">It was late December in Tulsa, Oklahoma, when Curtis found the frog. The weather was freezing, so Curtis knew he couldn\u2019t simply put the frog outside.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1772087949_846_scale;webp=auto;jpeg_quality=60.jpg\"  width=\"792\" height=\"456\" style=\"display:block;height:auto;aspect-ratio:792 \/ 456\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>The Dodo<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">\u201cIt was, like, 25 degrees out the night that I found him, so I knew that I couldn\u2019t release him,\u201d Curtis said.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"1\">So even though it was the middle of the night, Curtis kept the frog inside and did what he could to make him as comfortable as possible.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"2\">\u201cI kind of turned the lettuce box into a makeshift terrarium,\u201d Curtis said. \u201cMy intention was mainly just to get him through that night, initially.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1772087949_884_scale;webp=auto;jpeg_quality=60.jpg\"  width=\"792\" height=\"482\" style=\"display:block;height:auto;aspect-ratio:792 \/ 482\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>The Dodo<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">The next day, Curtis contacted several wildlife biologists, who explained that because the tree frog wasn\u2019t native to Oklahoma, it would be harmful for both the frog and for the local ecosystem if he were to be released. The biologists told Curtis that the best thing would be to keep the frog inside.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"1\">\u201cIt was just kind of like, \u2018Well, OK, I guess I have a new pet,\u2019\u201d Curtis said.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"2\">Curtis decided to name the frog Tony and to make him a permanent member of his family. He did some thorough research about tree frog care and got him set up with a proper terrarium and food.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1772087950_987_scale;webp=auto;jpeg_quality=60.jpg\"  width=\"792\" height=\"442\" style=\"display:block;height:auto;aspect-ratio:792 \/ 442\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>The Dodo<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">\u201c[H]e gets plenty of crickets and he has plenty of foliage to hide in,\u201d Curtis said.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"1\">Thanks to Curtis going above and beyond to save the life of an unexpected stowaway, Tony has been enjoying a cozy terrarium life for the past couple of years.
