The hairstyle has been a topic of conversation for years now, and it seems that Cox\u2019s ex-husband was the one who had originally pitched the idea. <\/p>\n<p>David Arquette says he pitched Gale\u2019s bangs look in Scream 3<\/p>\n<p>David Arquette, who has been a part of the Scream franchise since the first film in 1996, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=wfG-DrBQQFI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">revealed that he was the one<\/a> who came up with the idea of Gale actor Courtney Cox getting Bangs for the 2000 cult classic, Scream 3. <\/p>\n<p>During the premiere of Scream 7, Arquette told Extra TV that it was his fault that his ex-wife\u2019s hairstyle had become a pop culture sensation, and not in a positive way. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sorry for the Scream 3 bangs,\u201d he said. Arquette explained that he had envisioned a different kind of bangs for his former partner. \u201cI suggested Bettie Page. Very blunt bangs like Bettie Page because she\u2019s got dark hair, too. Little pinup thing for Gale Weathers. Didn\u2019t work out that way,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=WLboNlDZ4uU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">separate interview with Extra TV<\/a>, Cox also addressed the infamous haircut. She said that she wasn\u2019t sure if the haircut \u201cwas [Arquette\u2019s] idea.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd if it is, he should never say that because it\u2019s a terrible idea,\u201d she added. \u201cSo I went with bangs that time, and it was a big mistake. But at least it\u2019s a conversation piece for the rest of time.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>As Cox, who has appeared in all the Scream movies over three decades, points out, the haircut is a topic of conversation and has remained so for years.
