{"id":360211,"date":"2026-02-28T04:16:11","date_gmt":"2026-02-28T04:16:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/360211\/"},"modified":"2026-02-28T04:16:11","modified_gmt":"2026-02-28T04:16:11","slug":"man-arrested-after-garda-injured-in-electric-motorcycle-incident-in-blanchardstown-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/360211\/","title":{"rendered":"Man arrested after garda injured in electric motorcycle incident in Blanchardstown \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A member of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-siochana\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-siochana\/\">An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na<\/a> was injured in an incident involving an electric motorcycle in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/blanchardstown\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/blanchardstown\/\">Blanchardstown<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin-15\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin-15\/\">Dublin 15<\/a>, on Thursday night. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The incident happened in Blakestown at about 9pm and left the garda and motorcyclist requiring hospital treatment for what were described as non-life threatening injuries. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The force said officers \u201con proactive patrol to disrupt the sale and supply of controlled drugs\u201d responded after observing a man driving a Surron-type electric motorcycle on a green area. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cThe man, whose face was covered, was driving the motorcycle on the green area and on footpaths, putting members of the public at risk,\u201d it said in a statement. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cWhen a Garda member who was on foot approached the motorcyclist as he was travelling at speed along the footpath he drove off, and in the course of doing so struck the garda.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The male garda, aged in his 20s, was brought to Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, for treatment. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cWelfare supports have been made available to the garda by local management,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cThe motorcyclist, aged in his 30s, was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown to be treated for non life-threatening injuries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The man was later arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Dublin garda station.
