\n\tAnna Camp<\/a> has deleted a post celebrating Scream<\/a> 7\u2018s box-office success despite planned boycotts of the film.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Pitch Perfect alum re-shared a post on Instagram Story that received a lot of backlash.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe boycott didn\u2019t work. The critics hate didn\u2019t work. The pathetic leaks didn\u2019t work. What worked was audiences coming out and making the film a success,\u201d read the post Camp shared on social media, which had Taylor Swift\u2019s \u201cKarma\u201d playing in the background.<\/p>\n

\n\tFollowing the backlash, Camp deleted the post and posted an explanation on X, saying, \u201cIt has come to my attention that I reposted someone else\u2019s story that does not reflect my personal beliefs. I have since deleted the repost because I absolutely meant no harm. I\u2019m sorry to anyone who was affected.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn its first weekend, Scream 7<\/a> scored big at the box office<\/a> with a franchise-best opening of $64.1 million domestically and $97.2 million worldwide. The results were the best horror opening ever for a Paramount release.<\/p>\n

\n\tScream 7\u00a0was retooled after Spyglass fired Melissa Barrera in November 2023 after she expressed support for Palestinians in the Israel-Hamas war. The production company behind the film said in a statement that they had \u201czero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form\u201d<\/a> and dropped her.<\/p>\n

\n\tShortly after, Barrera\u2019s co-star Jenna Ortega dropped out of Scream VII<\/a> and left the franchise in limbo. Original Scream 7 director, Christopher Landon, also exited the project<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tDespite all the exits, Spyglass continued the project and tapped Kevin Williamson to direct the franchise he helped create, having written the original 1996 film directed by Wes Craven.<\/p>\n
