\n\tBruce Campbell<\/a>, best known as the star of horror film The Evil Dead<\/a>, revealed he has been diagnosed with cancer. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThese days, when someone is having a health issue, it\u2019s referred to as an \u2018opportunity,\u2019 so let\u2019s go with that \u2014 I\u2019m having one of those,\u201d Campbell wrote in a lengthy\u00a0post on X<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s also called a type of cancer that\u2019s \u2018treatable\u2019 not \u2018curable.\u2019 I apologize if that\u2019s a shock \u2014 it was to me too.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe actor did not share the specific type of cancer. \u201cThe good news is, I\u2019m not gonna go into any more detail,\u201d he wrote. \u201cI\u2019m posting this, because professionally, a few things will have to change \u2014 appearances and cons and work in general need to take a back seat to treatment. My plan is to get as well as I possibly can over the summer so that I can tour with my new movie\u00a0Ernie & Emma\u00a0this fall.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe continued, \u201cThere are several cons this summer that I have to cancel. Big regrets on my part. Treatment needs and professional obligations don\u2019t always go hand-in-hand. That\u2019s about it. I\u2019m not trying to enlist sympathy \u2014 or advice \u2014 I just want to get ahead of this information in case false information gets out (which it will).\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCampbell concluded his posted by sending love to fans and sharing his intention to stay strong \u201cFear not, I am a tough old son-of-a-bitch and I have great support, so I expect to be around a while,\u201d he wrote. <\/p>\n

\n\tCampbell first starred as Ash Williams in 1981 horror movie\u00a0The Evil Dead. He reprised the role a few times, including in TV series\u00a0Ash vs. Evil Dead<\/a>, which premiered in 2015 and ran for three seasons. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m always surprised by the demand, because the first\u00a0Evil Dead\u00a0was financed by dentists and doctors,\u201d Campbell told Rolling Stone<\/a> in 2015. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t even an indie darling. It clawed its way from nowhere to where it is today, which is still a mom-and-pop operation. We\u2019re just glad that, after all this hard work, people want more.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOver the years, Campbell has also appeared on The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.,\u00a0Xena: Warrior Princes,\u00a0Hercules,\u00a0and\u00a0Burn Notice.\u00a0In 2018, he took a role in AMC series Lodge 49 because he was excited by playing a scumbag. <\/p>\n
