Hoda Kotb<\/a><\/strong> co-anchored NBC\u2019s Today<\/a><\/strong> for a long time. Back in September 2024, the beloved anchor decided to leave after decades of being associated with the show. This decision left her followers heartbroken, who were used to seeing her every morning. But Kotb believes that the decision to leave was the right call.<\/p>\n

In a recent interview with Kristen Welker<\/a>, Kotb revealed why the decision to leave the Today show was the right call. Right at the beginning of the interview, Welker talks about Kotb\u2019s monumental decision, to which the co-host responds by talking about an interaction with her daughter, Haley.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor 26 years, I did similar things every single day. And one day, Kristen, in January, I woke up and my alarm didn\u2019t go off at 3:30,\u201d she recalled. \u201cI went downstairs to my office, and Haley ran down and she looked at me and said at 5 a.m., she said, \u2018You really are here.\u2019 And I think in that tiny moment I was like this decision was right on so many levels,\u201d Kotb revealed.<\/p>\n

The anchor continues to talk about how the decision has also enabled her to live her life more relaxed and has allowed her to learn new things. \u201cI\u2019m learning how to sleep again. I haven\u2019t done that in decades,\u201d Kotb admitted. \u201cI\u2019m learning new skills. I\u2019m learning how to be a mom who\u2019s there almost all of the time, and I\u2019m learning all these things in my 60s,\u201d she further stated.<\/p>\n

Kotb shares how becoming a mother later in life has helped her live her best life. \u201cThe best decade, the best part of my life started at 50. Everyone\u2019s gonna talk about their 30s and their 20s, weren\u2019t they magical in their 40s? Forget it. 50s and beyond, to me, is where it\u2019s all happening, and it\u2019s amazing,\u201d she shared.<\/p>\n

Hoda Kotb left Today on January 10, 2025, ending her long association with the channel.
