The American man accused of murdering Kenmare farmer Mike Gaine has been remanded in custody for another two weeks.<\/p>\n

54-year-old Michael Kelley, who had been residing in Tralee, appeared in Tralee District Court this morning.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s accused of murdering Mike Gaine last March.<\/p>\n

Michael Kelley faces one charge<\/a>; that between the 20th and 21st March 2025, he murdered Mike Gaine at Carrig, Kenmare, contrary to common law.<\/p>\n

He appeared on video link from Cork Prison<\/a> at a sitting of Tralee District Court this morning.<\/p>\n

Mr Kelley spoke to confirm his name, and that he could see and hear the court.<\/p>\n

The court heard the book of evidence is not yet available, and Sergeant Chris Manton applied to have him remanded in custody for a further two weeks.<\/p>\n

Mr Kelley\u2019s solicitor Pat Mann said there will be a bail application in the High Court.<\/p>\n

Judge David Waters remanded him in custody to 18th March, when he will next appear to face the charge against him.<\/p>\n

That date will mark almost a year exactly since Mike Gaine was first reported missing from his home in Kenmare.<\/p>\n
