Finglas criminal Kaide Fowler (38), who was jailed last December for four and a half years for drug dealing and money laundering, was rushed from Dublin\u2019s Wheatfield Prison to hospital on Tuesday night<\/p>\n

A convicted drug dealer has been taken to hospital after it was suspected he swallowed a phone in prison.<\/p>\n

Finglas criminal Kaide Fowler<\/a> (38), who was jailed last December for four and a half years for drug dealing and money laundering, was rushed from Dublin\u2019s Wheatfield Prison to hospital on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

Fowler<\/a>, whose father Josh <\/a>was stabbed to death in 2024, is suspected to have swallowed a mobile phone, which is considered contraband behind bars. Prison officers feared Fowler may have seriously injured or poisoned himself in the process of trying to conceal the phone amid a search.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was complaining of bad constipation,\u201d a source said. \u201cIt\u2019s suspected he swallowed a phone. But obviously there\u2019s concern of potential battery leaks or the blockage causing real issues so he was taken into hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n

Described in court as a low level drug dealer, Fowler<\/a>, of Deanstown Avenue, Finglas West, pleaded guilty to a string of charges of having various different types of drugs for sale or supply, including heroin, cannabis and cocaine on dates between February 5, 2021 and January 19, 2023.<\/p>\n

Fowler<\/a>, who has 102 previous convictions, further pleaded guilty to multiple charges of engaging in the possession of cash, believed to be from the proceeds of crime on dates between May 2021 and January 19, 2023. The sums ranged from \u20ac507 to \u20ac61,418.<\/p>\n

Dean Kelly SC, defending Fowler, told the court at the time that his client\u2019s childhood was \u201cpretty chaotic which featured drugs and criminality going back years\u201d.<\/p>\n

His father, Anthony Josh Fowler<\/a>, died in an incident in November 2024 at his Finglas home.Connor Brennan Moran (22), of Lanesborough Gardens, Finglas, was recently charged with the murder of Mr Fowler and is currently before the courts.<\/p>\n

Judge Martin Nolan said Kaide Fowler <\/a>had relevant previous convictions, noting a previous five-year suspended sentence for having drugs for sale or supply.<\/p>\n

He accepted Fowler <\/a>had \u201ca sad life with plenty of challenges in his early life\u201d but said he was \u201cdrug dealing to a serious degree at a low level in the area\u201d.Fowler <\/a>has 102 previous convictions, including a five-year suspended sentence for possession of drugs for sale or supply in February 2015.<\/p>\n
