AMZN<\/a>) cloud unit, AWS, said on Thursday it had launched an \u200cartificial intelligence-enabled platform that aims to ease access \u200cto care for patients and cut administrative work for healthcare \u200bproviders.<\/p>\nThe agentic AI-led platform, Amazon Connect Health, integrates with electronic health records that clinicians use for patient verification, appointment scheduling, compiling medical histories, clinical documentation, and medical coding, \u200cAWS said in \u2060a blog post.<\/p>\n
It is designed to operate around the clock, booking appointments instantly and \u2060escalating complex cases to staff as needed. It leverages specialized learning techniques on healthcare-specific data sets and guidelines.<\/p>\n
The \u200bplatform undergoes \u200bmulti-step evaluation of model performance \u200bfor safety and accuracy, \u200cincluding clinician-in-the-loop driven checks. AWS said UC San Diego Health, which has deployed the tool, has reported saving one minute per call and reducing call abandonment rates by up to 60%. The system can transcribe doctor-patient conversations during visits, \u200cdraft clinical notes for provider \u200breview in real-time, and generate \u200bpatient-friendly summaries.<\/p>\n
Amazon \u200bConnect Health uses a feature called evidence mapping \u200cthat links AI-generated output to \u200bits exact \u200bsource, like call transcripts and medical records, to ensure transparency. Amazon One Medical has used the documentation \u200bfeature formore \u200cthan a million visits, with strong clinician adoption \u200band regular weekly usage.<\/p>\n
