Campsites were in disarray, cans littered the ground and toilets were worthy of a biohazard warning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">For <b>Eoin Kelly<\/b> from Mullingar, some moments left a lot to be desired. \u201cSomeone pissed on our tent. It wasn\u2019t nice. We got rid of him anyway and sorted it out,\u201d Kelly says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">His fellow UCD agricultural-science student <b>Phillip Casey<\/b> advises people to bring a waterproof tent, in part due to the weather, which he describes as his only low point of the weekend. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cYou hear the wind picking up and tents flying all around the place,\u201d Casey says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"><b>Se\u00e1n O\u2019Brien<\/b>, from Wexford, adds: \u201cI fell into grass last night and fell asleep there for about 20 minutes. That wasn\u2019t great. I didn\u2019t enjoy that. That was my low point.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">But the group still thoroughly enjoyed the weekend, including great craic at the Andy Warhol campsite. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cI got my ticket two days beforehand, and I wasn\u2019t that hyped up about going, but it has been class. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/kneecap\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/kneecap\/\">Kneecap<\/a> mosh pit was unreal,\u201d O\u2019Brien says.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Gillian Kearney from Offaly with James O&#x2019;Connor from Kildare. Photograph: Alan Betson <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"><b>Gillian Kearney<\/b>, from Offaly, cites <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/culture\/music\/review\/2025\/08\/29\/chappell-roan-at-electric-picnic-a-breathtakingly-dark-and-stormy-tour-de-force\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/culture\/music\/review\/2025\/08\/29\/chappell-roan-at-electric-picnic-a-breathtakingly-dark-and-stormy-tour-de-force\/\">Chappell Roan as the highlight of the festival<\/a> \u2013 and says the bad weather didn\u2019t stop people from having fun. \u201cIt\u2019s not even the rain. It\u2019s the wind. You\u2019re in the tent and it\u2019s rocking side to side. You\u2019re terrified it\u2019s going to blow away with you in it,\u201d Kearney says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">She\u2019d advise future picnickers to bring less. \u201cI brought four gear bags full of clothes with me. You don\u2019t need that many clothes even if it is cold.\u201d Instead she tells future festivalgoers to \u201cfocus on your tent and your drink\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Gerry and Margie Watchorn from Carlow. Photograph: Alan Betson <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"><b>Gerry<\/b> and <b>Marjorie Watchorn<\/b>, a couple from Carlow, say the variety at the festival is an appeal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cEverybody is in good form,\u201d Gerry says. \u201cIt would put you in good form. There\u2019s so much that\u2019s bad and sad, so to come to a place like this and see everybody enjoying themselves, it\u2019s a bit of a tonic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cOur three adult kids are here as well, which is lovely. It\u2019s a bit of a family day out for us,\u201d Marjorie adds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-it-article-body__interstitial-link\">[\u00a0<a aria-label=\"Open related story\" class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/culture\/music\/2025\/09\/01\/electric-picnic-2025-the-weekend-in-pictures\/\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Electric Picnic 2025: The weekend in picturesOpens in new window<\/a>\u00a0]<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">But the bathrooms could be cleaner. \u201cI know there are people working hard [to clean them], but, God, they are not great,\u201d Gerry says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cEspecially in the main arena at night,\u201d Marjorie adds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The couple also say <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/culture\/music\/2025\/09\/01\/electric-picnic-2025-highs-and-lows-chappell-roan-hits-like-a-typhoon-20-burgers-go-down-like-a-lead-balloon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/culture\/music\/2025\/09\/01\/electric-picnic-2025-highs-and-lows-chappell-roan-hits-like-a-typhoon-20-burgers-go-down-like-a-lead-balloon\/\">food and drink are too expensive<\/a>: pints are \u20ac7 and a burger without chips can set you back \u20ac20.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cI\u2019d say some of these young kids are finding it hard if they don\u2019t have plenty of food with them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Marjorie advises future festivalgoers to plan ahead. \u201cBring a packed lunch and snacks. Photograph: Alan Betson <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"><b>Siobh\u00e1n O\u2019Connor<\/b>, a local, came with her three children, Ally, Tom and Lucy Fraser, to see their dad, Michael Fraser, perform in the Timahoe Male Choir.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The other highlight of the weekend, they say, was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/chappell-roan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/chappell-roan\/\">Chappell Roan<\/a> on the Main Stage on Friday night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cI volunteer at the festival every year,\u201d O\u2019Connor says. \u201cAs locals we love having this. We are very proud to have this in our town.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The festival has a positive impact on the area, they say, but it\u2019s disappointing to see \u201call the rubbish everywhere and the waste\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cWhen everyone leaves here tomorrow they will just leave all their tents.
