Lewis said: &#8220;That&#8217;s very interesting, isn&#8217;t it? You wouldn&#8217;t think of that.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Another listener warned about maintaining purpose in retirement, noting &#8220;the first summer is joyous, but the first winter without purpose can be very depressing.&#8221; They recommended volunteering, casual work, or hobbies to stay engaged.<\/li>\n<li>Lewis reflected on his own busy lifestyle, admitting there are times he thinks about stopping work but questions what would fill his time. He praised another retiree&#8217;s approach of doing &#8220;whatever I want&#8221;, such as spending a whole afternoon watching cricket.<\/li>\n<li>Meanwhile, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/state-pension\" data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|AutoLink\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">state pension<\/a> age is set to rise from 66 to 67 between April 2026 and April 2028.
