\n\tThe first trailer for Guy Ritchie<\/a>\u2018s long-awaited action-thriller \u201cIn the Grey<\/a>\u201d is finally here and it boasts the director\u2019s signature cocktail of sharply-edited guns, explosions and attitude. <\/p>\n

\n\tBeing released by Black Bear on May 15, the film follows a covert team of elite operatives sent to take on a ruthless despot and steal back a billion-dollar fortune he cheekily swiped for himself. As the trailer suggests, much of the action is perpetrated by the team\u2019s two heavies, a cocky American known as Bronco (Jake Gyllenhaal<\/a>) and a more no-nonsense Brit called Sid (Henry Cavill<\/a>), both more than adept in things that go bang and boom, with Eiza Gonz\u00e1lez as their handler. Per the synopsis: \u201cWhat begins as an impossible heist gets much worse, spiraling into an all-out war of strategy, deception and survival.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tKristofer Hivju, Emmett J. Scanlan, Jason Wong and Michael Vu also star, alongside Fisher Stevens, Rosamund Pike and Carlos Bardem. <\/p>\n

\n\tFirst announced in 2023 and wrapping later that having been granted an interim agreement to allow the actors to work during the SAG-AFTRA strike, \u201cIn the Grey\u201d was originally due for release in early 2025. However, Lionsgate, which had bought the film initially, pulled the film from its schedule as post-production wasn\u2019t complete. Black Bear \u2014\u00a0which had produced and sold the film \u2014\u00a0then took the rights for its newly-launched U.S. distribution arm, with Lionsgate continuing to handle the film\u2019s digital and pay-TV distribution.\u00a0The film was produced by John Friedberg, Dave Caplan, Ritchie, and Ivan Atkinson<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIn the Grey\u201d arrives in the midst of a exceptionally busy few years for Ritchie on both the big screen and small, with back-to-back projects. <\/p>\n

\n\tAfter first teaming with Gyllenhaal on 2023\u2019s \u201cThe Covenant,\u201d 2024 saw the release of \u201cThe Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare\u201d (starring Cavill), followed by \u201cFountain of Youth\u201d last year. Meanwhile, \u201cWife and Dog\u201d is currently in post-production and due for release this year, while \u201cViva La Madness\u201d is now in production. On TV, following last year\u2019s \u201cMobLand\u201d (which was recommissioned for a second season), Prime Video just released \u201cYoung Sherlock,\u201d while the second season of \u201cThe Gentleman\u201d has been completed and is now awaiting a release date from Netflix.<\/p>\n
