Two Warren County towns rank among New Jersey\u2019s best affordable retirement destinations.<\/p>\n

Phillipsburg and Hackettstown were included in a summary of the \u201cBest Affordable Towns\u201d to retire <\/a>to in New Jersey, according to WorldAtlas.com. WorldAtlas touts itself as \u201cone of the largest publishing resources in geography and other topics.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t have to sacrifice one for the other. In historic towns like Millville and Egg Harbor City, and once-upon-a-time trade hubs like Pennsville and Phillipsburg, you can have the best of both worlds,\u201d according to the summary.<\/p>\n

Phillipsburg and Hackettstown were included in the list of 11 towns across the state that offer value for retirees, with typical home values ranging from about $223,000 to $500,000 depending on location and housing stock.<\/p>\n

Phillipsburg\u2019s typical home value sits around $329,196, while Hackettstown homes average approximately $475,965.<\/p>\n

The list also includes Dover, Egg Harbor City, Somers Point, Northfield, Hammonton, Pennsville, Bridgeton, Millville and Salem.<\/p>\n

Phillipsburg<\/a> sits at the end of the Morris Canal and along the Delaware River.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s distinguished by its remnants of America\u2019s industrial legacy, which are still visible in the town\u2019s character.<\/p>\n

Phillipsburg\u2019s historic railway and silk mill infrastructures anchor the town. Downtown retail, markets and restaurants \u2014 where farmers\u2019 markets and family-friendly events are regularly hosted \u2014 draw visitors year-round, as does the Delaware River Railroad Excursions depot, which continues to operate passenger trains.<\/p>\n

Just over the bridge in Easton, the Karl Stirner Arts Trail begins along the Bushkill Creek and connects to downtown, drawing hikers and cyclists from both sides of the Delaware River.<\/p>\n

The Patrick School\u2019s Move to Centenary University<\/p>\n

Hackettstown<\/a> is distinguished by its collection of Queen Anne homes and railway access. Senior housing communities and medical offices cluster near Mountain Avenue.<\/p>\n

Hackettstown Station provides rail service east through Dover toward Newark, Hoboken and New York via the Morristown and Montclair-Boonton lines.<\/p>\n

The town is home to Centenary University.<\/p>\n

Tranquility Farms, north of town, sells produce, baked goods, and ice cream from a barn market open through fall.<\/p>\n

David\u2019s Country Inn, operating since 1840, hosts events and serves as a landmark on Main Street and as the introduction to the town\u2019s cafe, dining and members\u2019 club scene. Czig Meister Brewing Company, located in a former carriage house, offers small-batch beers and live music events on its outdoor patio.<\/p>\n

The Musconetcong River runs through the business district, and its shallow waters can be crossed by bridges that overlook the town\u2019s historic architecture.<\/p>\n
