The weather is set to take a dramatic turn this week, with snow<\/a>, sleet and wintery hazards on the cards for Ireland.<\/p>\n While there was a noticeable stretch in the evenings over the last few days as spring set in and the sun began to shine, forecasters have warned temperatures will dip and showers will rain down later this week.<\/p>\n In their latest forecast, Met \u00c9ireann<\/a> boffins have said low pressure will dominate this week, with rain or showers each day, turning heavy at times with strong gusts of wind.<\/p>\n Alongside wet and rainy weather<\/a>, temperatures will drop to 0C, bringing sleet, snow, frost and ice overnight on Thursday, while on Friday showers will fall as sleet and possibly snow at times – with wintry hazards possible.<\/p>\n The ever reliable Alan O’Reilly from Carlow Weather also warned Thursday would be wet and very windy, with wintry showers on Thursday night.<\/p>\n \u201cTuesday will turn very wet in the late afternoon and evening,\u201d he wrote. \u201cWednesday will see sunny spells before a wet and very windy Thursday. Also a risk of strong winds at weekend but details uncertain yet.\u201d \u201cA risk of wintry showers Thursday night,\u201d Alan added in another post shortly after.<\/p>\n Content cannot be displayed without consent<\/p>\n Here is Met \u00c9ireann\u2019s Irish weather<\/a> forecast for the rest of the week:<\/p>\n Tuesday<\/p>\n Generally cloudy this morning with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, becoming patchier for a time later in the morning and early afternoon before more persistent rain extends from the west. Becoming breezy with moderate to fresh south or southwest winds developing. Highest temperatures of 9C to 13C.<\/p>\n Becoming dry for most early on tonight as the rain clears eastwards. Clear spells and scattered showers will follow from the west, mainly affecting Atlantic coastal counties with a chance of hail. Lowest temperatures of 3C to 7C, with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds easing, allowing some mist patches to form.<\/p>\n Wednesday<\/p>\n Dry and bright for most tomorrow with spells of sunshine, though scattered showers will continue mainly for Atlantic coastal counties. Patchy cloud will develop through the afternoon with isolated showers extending further east. Highest temperatures of 8C to 11C, with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds.<\/p>\n Turning windy on Wednesday night with showery outbreaks of rain extending eastwards and southwesterly winds increasing fresh to strong and gusty. The rain will turn more persistent in the northwest towards morning. Highest temperatures of 8C to 12C, mildest in the south where the rain will be most persistent.<\/p>\n Thursday night will be generally cloudy with rain clearing early on. Turning colder with showers feeding in from the west, falling as sleet or snow in places. Some frost and ice will form with lowest temperatures of 0C to 4C, in moderate to fresh southwest winds.<\/p>\n Friday<\/p>\n Cool and breezy with sunny spells and scattered showers. The showers will fall as sleet and possibly snow at times. Highest temperatures of just 5C to 8C in fresh and gusty westerly winds.<\/p>\n Saturday<\/p>\n Likely becoming duller and milder, with cloud and rain extending eastwards across the country.
