The commitment of these countries to AI and automation was likely to intensify as they faced <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/economy\/china-economy\/article\/3279509\/chinas-job-market-falters-graduates-forced-scale-back-career-ambitions?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">shrinking labour pools<\/a> and rising wage pressures, they argued in a February 24 report on low fertility rates in Asia.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cThe region\u2019s deep semiconductor, tech hardware and machinery ecosystems make deployment faster and cheaper than other regions\u201d, the report\u2019s authors said, noting that China and South Korea were already at the forefront of developing and adopting cutting-edge technologies.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">South Korea boasts the world\u2019s highest robot density, with about 1,012 industrial robots per 10,000 manufacturing workers.
