Now, the hitmaker is being vulnerable about something she\u2019s been struggling with for years.<\/p>\n<p>In a TikTok shared on Friday (Mar. 13), the musician revealed she\u2019d been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD). According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/borderline-personality-disorder\/symptoms-causes\/syc-20370237\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"(opens in a new tab)\">Mayo Clinic<\/a>, BPD is a condition that \u201caffects the way people feel about themselves and others, making it hard to function in everyday life.\u201d Symptoms of borderline personality disorder include a \u201cpattern of unstable, intense relationships, impulsiveness and an unhealthy way of seeing themselves. Impulsiveness involves having extreme emotions and acting or doing things without thinking about them first.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For Doja, that has been caught on camera and online, from a spat surrounding <a href=\"https:\/\/thegrio.com\/2026\/03\/09\/aint-nobody-dressing-up-to-go-and-see-wonka-black-ballet-and-opera-performers-call-out-timothee-chalamet\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"1265087\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet\u2019s feelings on the opera and ballet<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/thegrio.com\/2026\/03\/12\/doja-cat-walks-back-comments-criticizing-timothee-chalamet-says-she-just-wanted-to-look-like-a-hero\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"1265818\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">later recanting<\/a> to defending pop star Chappell Roan after <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/PopBase\/status\/2031013261441712515\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"(opens in a new tab)\">paparazzi harassed her<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_4-0\">\u201cI\u2019ve learned from a very young age to pretend that I like stuff, to pretend that I\u2019m happy, to pretend that I don\u2019t like stuff that I do, to appear like everything is okay,\u201d Doja said in the clip. \u201cI\u2019ll get it done. And it caught up with me, and I think it always does for people. In an essay published for the <a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC4535356\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"(opens in a new tab)\">National Library of Medicine<\/a>, Natacha M De Genna and Ulrike Feske determined that Black women diagnosed with the disorder present externalized symptoms and present with more severe symptoms of lack of anger control.<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_22-0\">\u201cI\u2019ve been in therapy for years now, and I am so relieved and so proud of myself. I\u2019ve made it so far, and I still make mistakes,\u201d Doja said, while adding that her path has seen its fair share of \u201chealing\u201d during the journey. \u201cI had to learn how to be honest. I had to learn how to be honest with myself. I lied to myself for years, for most of my life, and to see [Chappell] sit there, and I love it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_31-0\">\u201cI love that she can do that without hurting people,\u201d she continued. \u201cShe hasn\u2019t hurt one person by being herself, and that shows that I can do the same.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, Doja walked back comments she made about Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet after the Oscar-nominated actor was dismissive about ballet and opera in comments he made to fellow actor Matthew McConaughey.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat I was doing yesterday was virtue signaling because I wanted to connect and I knew that Timoth\u00e9e\u2019s goof up was something that I could leverage in order for people to connect with me and f\u2014 with me,\u201d Doja Cat said in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@dojacat\/video\/7615352156626963725\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">TikTok shared on Tuesday<\/a>. \u201cAnd it\u2019s easy. It\u2019s a modern way to garner clicks, likes, approval and all kinds of things like that from people.
