Chloe Malle has been named the new head of editorial content at American Vogue after Anna Wintour<\/a> stepped down from her role as the day-to-day editor of the title.<\/p>\n

Wintour (75) will remain in charge of Vogue globally and as chief content officer of the media company Cond\u00e9 Nast<\/a>, which oversees prominent media brands including Vogue, Vanity Fair and GQ.<\/p>\n

Malle (39), the daughter of actress Candice Bergen<\/a> and French film director Louis Malle<\/a>, will take on her new role immediately, the magazine said.<\/p>\n

She was previously the editor of Vogue.com and co-host of The Run-Through, Vogue\u2019s weekly fashion and culture podcast.<\/p>\n

She will now lead the creative and editorial direction of the title and join Vogue\u2019s 10 existing heads of editorial content around the world, reporting to Wintour.<\/p>\n

Malle said: \u201cFashion and media are both evolving at breakneck speed, and I am so thrilled \u2014 and awed \u2014 to be part of that.<\/p>\n

\u201cI also feel incredibly fortunate to still have Anna just down the hall as my mentor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Announcing the appointment, Wintour said: \u201cFashion is the art of embracing change, but some changes run closer to one\u2019s heart than the rest.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen it came to hiring someone to edit American Vogue, letting me turn my attention more intensely to Vogue\u2019s multifaceted growth across its global audiences and publications and events like the Met Gala<\/a> and Vogue World, I knew I had one chance to get it right.<\/p>\n
