{"id":39806,"date":"2025-09-03T01:14:16","date_gmt":"2025-09-03T01:14:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/39806\/"},"modified":"2025-09-03T01:14:16","modified_gmt":"2025-09-03T01:14:16","slug":"one-of-northern-irelands-wealthiest-areas-is-new-antisocial-behaviour-hotspot-the-irish-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/39806\/","title":{"rendered":"One of Northern Ireland\u2019s wealthiest areas is new antisocial behaviour hotspot \u2013 The Irish News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">One of Northern Ireland\u2019s wealthiest areas has become the north\u2019s hotspot for antiscocial behaviour, according to the latest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/tags\/psni\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/tags\/psni\">PSNI<\/a> statistics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The latest figures, covering from 1 August 2024 to 31 July 2025 show that South <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/tags\/belfast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/tags\/belfast\">Belfast<\/a> alone had 4,675 reported antisocial behaviour incidents.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">This represents an increase of 5.6% on the year previous. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The statistics show that the south of the city dwarfs north, east, and west Belfast when it comes to antisocial incidents.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/news\/northern-ireland\/dublin-airport-bus-companies-depart-from-grand-central-station-for-first-time-SDSHHNYLJNADVIHCODXW75BC7M\/\" aria-hidden=\"true\" tabindex=\"-1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Dublin Airport bus companies depart from Grand Central Station for first time\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/KM37K7PEZRDBNJX5X3VTB5BPVA.JPG\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/><\/a><a class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/news\/northern-ireland\/i-cant-even-let-my-son-play-outside-for-fear-hell-be-hit-residents-concerned-over-stray-golf-balls-as-housing-association-seeks-longer-term-solutions-AEEKF4SP3JBTRLQOLGMJLXCQLM\/\" aria-hidden=\"true\" tabindex=\"-1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"&#x2018;I can&#x2019;t even let my son play outside for fear he&#x2019;ll be hit&#x2019; - residents concerned over stray golf balls as housing association seeks &#x2018;longer-term solutions&#x2019; \" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/QTEVXUD6SBBY7JSYV7KOP5S34M.JPG\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/><\/a><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Antisocial behaviour statistics\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/43LTG2PMZFFZ7DXDP7RMYOXJO4.png\"  width=\"800\" height=\"232\"\/>Antisocial behaviour statistics <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">In fact, this pocket of Belfast, which includes some of the north\u2019s most expensive houses had almost as many antisocial behaviour incidents as the entire Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon (ABC) council area (4,904) which had the highest number of instances on the list outside of Belfast.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Elsewhere in Belfast, the area with the second highest number of antisocial behaviour instances was north Belfast (4,283), followed by east Belfast (2,704) and west Belfast (2,608).<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Overall, the Belfast City Council area had the highest number of reported incidents (14,270) &#8211; a 5.8% increase on the 12 months previous.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Next up was Armagh City, Banbridge &amp; Craigavon at 4,904 and representing a 3.9% increase on the year previous.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">This is followed by the Newry, Mourne &amp; Down council area (4,007) which saw a 6.1% increase on the prior 12 months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Derry City and Strabane was next at 3,512 incidents &#8211; however, this area saw a 2.8% rise in antisocial behaviour incidences when compared with the previous year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Ards &amp; North Down (3,220), Causeway Coast and Glens (2,904), Antrim and Newtownabbey (2,783), Mid and East Antrim (2,696) were next in line.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The districts with the next highest figures were Lisburn and Castlereagh City (2,654), Mid Ulster (2,132) and Fermanagh and Omagh (1,730).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Antisocial behaviour statistics\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/KYXTFMIDMBG33FCM32Z324NCSY.png\"  width=\"800\" height=\"572\"\/>Antisocial behaviour statistics <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">North Belfast had the highest percentage increase when it came to antisocial behaviour with a 9.1% increase on the year previous.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Newry, Mourne and Down (6.1%), East Belfast (6%), Belfast City council area (5.8%) and south Belfast (5.6%) also saw increases.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The area that saw the lowest increase on the table was west Belfast &#8211;
