Designed for high-performance tasks in cloud computing and AI computing, the C950 is a \u201cCPU core\u201d \u2013 the fundamental architecture for a chip \u2013 that Alibaba claims to be the most powerful of its kind globally.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Alibaba owns the South China Morning Post.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Meng Jianyi, chief scientist at Damo Academy, said the C950 delivers more than three times the performance of the C920, a previous generation of the series which also targeted high-performance computing.<\/p>\n<p>The launch comes as AI agents \u2013 programmes that are capable of autonomously performing tasks on behalf of a user or another system \u2013 are becoming the latest battlefield for Chinese tech companies, after the OpenAI-backed AI agent <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/topics\/openclaw?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">OpenClaw<\/a> took the industry by storm.
