{"id":40184,"date":"2025-09-03T05:24:18","date_gmt":"2025-09-03T05:24:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/40184\/"},"modified":"2025-09-03T05:24:18","modified_gmt":"2025-09-03T05:24:18","slug":"two-of-the-most-interesting-traitors-contestants-have-strong-family-links-to-limerick-gaa-star","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/40184\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Of The Most Interesting Traitors Contestants Have Strong Family Links To Limerick GAA Star"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Warning this article contains major spoilers on the Traitors Ireland<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Irish version of The Traitors launched this week, and after two episodes, it&#8217;s been a pretty good watch.<\/p>\n<p>The show has maintained all of the trappings from the UK and Australia editions which have turned it into a global phenomenon, but there are subtle Irish twists, like the challenge using Irish in episode 2.<\/p>\n<p>For viewers in this country, there is the great Irish curiosity of trying to figure out where you know these people from.<\/p>\n<p>It turns out three contestants are already <a href=\"https:\/\/www.balls.ie\/the-rewind\/three-contestants-from-the-traitors-ireland-who-are-already-well-known-outside-the-show-639112\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">pretty well-known outside of the show.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was inevitable that there&#8217;d be a character from a GAA background, and it is happens, the closest GAA links to the show come from programme&#8217;s two most intriguing characters.<\/p>\n<p>Viewers learned in episode one that Paudie and Andrew are father and son. Limerick.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew is the uncle to Limerick hurler Shane &#8216;The Bull&#8217; O&#8217;Brien, while Paudie is his grandfather.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re indebted to the work of Kayley Hardiman in the Limerick Leader who revealed on Monday that Andrew&#8217;s sister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/news\/tv---radio\/1883462\/uncloaked-family-of-star-limerick-hurler-at-heart-of-traitors-twist.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Edwina is married to Shane O&#8217;Brien&#8217;s father Adrian, who&#8217;s also from Kilmallock.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Adrian took on the role of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/news\/hurling\/1621622\/breaking-changes-confirmed-to-john-kiely-s-limerick-hurling-management-team.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Limerick&#8217;s head of strength and conditioning heading into the 2025 season<\/a>.
