The new trailer for the film, directed by \u201cMinions\u201d filmmaker Kyle Balda, introduces George (played by Jackman), a shepherd who spends his evenings reading detective novels aloud to his sheep, under the assumption they can\u2019t understand a word. But when a mysterious incident disrupts life on the farm, the flock quietly proves him wrong, setting out to investigate the case themselves.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Sheep Detectives\u201d leans into its absurd premise while playing with the conventions of the genre, positioning its unlikely protagonists as sharp, observant and unexpectedly capable sleuths.<\/p>\n
The film boasts a sprawling ensemble cast, with Jackman joined by Nicholas Braun, Nicholas Galitzine and Molly Gordon, alongside Hong Chau and Emma Thompson. Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Chris O\u2019Dowd, Regina Hall, Patrick Stewart, Bella Ramsey, Brett Goldstein and Rhys Darby round out the lineup.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Sheep Detectives\u201d is based on Leonie Swann\u2019s bestselling novel \u201cThree Bags Full,\u201d which has developed a cult following for its playful take on the murder mystery format. Balda\u2019s adaptation brings the story to screen with a tone that blends dry humour and heightened absurdity, while still leaning on the structural beats of a traditional investigative drama.<\/p>\n
