Usher is shutting down the claim that he got into an intense argument with Justin Bieber at Beyonc\u00e9 and Jay-Z\u2019s Oscars afterparty.<\/p>\n
Last week, TMZ reported<\/a> the \u201cBaby\u201d singer, 32, and his former mentor, 47, got into a \u201cheated exchange\u201d after Usher went up to Bieber at the star-studded bash angrily.<\/p>\n But Usher\u2019s friend Da Brat said the \u201cYeah!\u201d singer told her the report was \u201cexaggerated,\u201d during an episode of \u201cThe Rickey Smiley Show.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n Last week, TMZ reported that Justin Bieber and Usher got into a heated altercation at Beyonc\u00e9 and Jay-Z\u2019s Oscars afterparty earlier this month. The \u201cBaby\u201d singer is pictured here arriving to the bash, which was held at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. The Daily Stardust \/ BACKGRID<\/p>\n Sources told the outlet that Bieber has always been rude to Usher \u2014 pictured here leaving the Vanity Fair Oscars Party Sunday \u2014 and that the \u201cYukon\u201d singer has been trying to erase everyone from his past. ShotbyNYP \/ BACKGRID<\/p>\n \u201cI spoke to Usher, and he said, \u2018This is an exaggeration of the conversation,\u2019\u201d Da Brat said. \u201cHe\u2019s been nothing but supportive of plenty of issues that Justin Bieber has had throughout the years and y\u2019all can actually check the records for all that, he has been.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cJustin is on his own journey, dealing with his own reality that he\u2019s created,\u201d she continued. \u201cUsher wishes him nothing but the best, and they have no hostility towards each other.\u201d<\/p>\n The rapper noted that the two singers \u201cdefinitely love each other.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cPeople just take stuff out of context when they see something and they run with it, and I\u2019m just here to say that is not the issue,\u201d she said. \u201cThey are definitely cool with each other, and they have love and they support each other.\u201d<\/p>\n However, Da Brat \u2014 pictured here in May 2025 \u2014 is now saying that Usher told her the report was \u201cexaggerated.\u201d WireImage<\/p>\n The rapper shared that Usher wishes nothing but the best for Bieber, and that the singers have no hostility toward each other. Getty Images<\/p>\n According to TMZ\u2019s sources, while Bieber and Usher\u2019s alleged altercation did not turn physical, it was \u201cintense.\u201d<\/p>\n A source claimed to the outlet that Bieber has \u201calways been rude\u201d to Usher and he\u2019s trying to \u201cerase everyone in his past.\u201d<\/p>\n Page Six reached out to reps for Bieber and Usher, but didn\u2019t receive a response.<\/p>\n Usher and Bieber\u2019s former manager, Scooter Braun,<\/a> were key figures in the early stages of Bieber\u2019s career, with Usher serving as a longtime mentor.<\/p>\n Sources told Page Six in February 2024 that Usher asked his former prot\u00e9g\u00e9 to take part in his\u00a0Super Bowl halftime show<\/a>, but Bieber \u201cwasn\u2019t feeling it.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n Prior to Da Brat\u2019s reveal, sources connected to Bieber told TMZ that Usher came up to him angrily, and while their argument did not get physical, it was \u201cintense.\u201d The Daily Stardust \/ BACKGRID<\/p>\n Usher attended the Vanity Fairs Oscars Party with his wife, Jennifer Goicoechea, ahead of the alleged altercation.
