A statement on the official Liverpool website said: \u201cMohamed Salah is to bring the curtain down on his illustrious career with Liverpool at the end of the 2025-26 season.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe forward has reached an agreement with the Reds that will see him close a remarkable nine-year chapter at Anfield.<\/p>\n
\u201cSalah expressed his wish to make this announcement to the supporters at the earliest possible opportunity to provide transparency about his future due to his respect and gratitude for them.\u201d<\/p>\n
In a video featuring highlights of his time with Liverpool posted on X, Salah said: \u201cHello everyone. Unfortunately, the day has come.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is the first part of my farewell. I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.<\/p>\n
\u201cI wanted to start by saying that I never imagined how deeply this club, this city, these people would become part of my life. Liverpool is not just a football club. It\u2019s a passion, it\u2019s a history, it\u2019s a spirit. I can\u2019t explain in words to anyone not of this club.<\/p>\n

Salah has won two Premier League titles and the Champions League since joining Liverpool in 2017, along with an FA Cup, League Cup, Uefa Super Cup and Club World Cup.<\/p>\n
He has won the Premier League golden boot four times and been voted players\u2019 player of the year three times.<\/p>\n
The Saudi Pro League has confirmed interest in bringing Salah to the Middle East, although the highest scoring Premier League player currently playing in the competition will effectively be available as a free transfer to any club.<\/p>\n
He opened the door to leaving after nine years on Merseyside after his stunning Elland Road interview in December. Salah accused the club of \u201cthrowing me under the bus\u201d and revealed his relationship with Liverpool manager Arne Slot had completely broken down.<\/p>\n
Slot had dropped Salah from his starting line-up at the time and the row opened the door for a departure. While Salah did not leave during the January transfer window, he will play his final game for Liverpool six months after his outburst at Leeds.<\/p>\n
After returning from Africa Cup of Nations duty with Egypt, Salah has been back in Slot\u2019s team and helped them reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League.<\/p>\n
