nofollow\">OpenAI<\/a> plans to acquire <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.statsig.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Statsig<\/a>, the experimentation platform that powers A\/B testing, feature flagging and real-time decisioning for OpenAI and other companies.<\/p>\n<p>Together with the acquisition, Statsig Founder and CEO <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/vijaye\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Vijaye Raji<\/a> will join OpenAI as chief technology officer of its Applications organization, reporting to <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/fidjisimo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Fidji Simo<\/a>, OpenAI said in a Tuesday (Sept. 2) <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/openai.com\/index\/vijaye-raji-to-become-cto-of-applications-with-acquisition-of-statsig\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, according to the release.<\/p>\n<p>The Applications organization is responsible for \u201chow our research reaches and benefits the world,\u201d the release said.<\/p>\n<p>Raji will head product engineering for <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/chatgpt.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">ChatGPT<\/a> and <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/openai.com\/codex\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Codex<\/a>, according to the release.<\/p>\n<p>Bringing Statsig in-house will strengthen OpenAI\u2019s ability to accelerate experimentation and enhance the experiences it delivers, the release said.<\/p>\n<p>Statsig employees will become OpenAI employees, the organization will continue operating independently and any future integration will be taken with a \u201cmeasured approach,\u201d per the release.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVijaye has a remarkable record of building new consumer and B2B products and systems at scale,\u201d Simo said in the release. \u201cHe\u2019s joining at a time when our models are opening entirely new ways to build, and his leadership will help turn that progress into safe applications that empower people with many new tools to improve their lives, help companies increase their impact and allow developers to build faster and better products.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Raji said in the release that he and the Statsig team will \u201ccontinue helping teams ship better software every day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJoining OpenAI as CTO of Applications is an extraordinary opportunity to bring my experience scaling consumer and enterprise products to a mission I deeply believe in: advancing AI in ways that are capable of solving hard problems, reliable and truly beneficial to people everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a Tuesday <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.statsig.com\/blog\/openai-acquisition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">blog post<\/a> on the Statsig website, Raji said Statsig will continue to provide its services to its existing customers and invest in its core products.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur customers will remain a top priority,\u201d Raji said.<\/p>\n<p>OpenAI CEO <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.samaltman.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Sam Altman<\/a> announced in May that the company had named Simo, who was head of Instacart at the time, as its CEO of <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/artificial-intelligence-2\/2025\/openai-picks-instacart-chief-fidji-simo-to-oversee-operations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Applications<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cApplications brings together a group of existing business and operational teams responsible for how our research reaches and benefits the world, and Fidji is uniquely qualified to lead this group,\u201d Altman said at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Simo said in June that OpenAI is set to grow its business more than a hundredfold as the synergy among its different <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/artificial-intelligence-2\/2025\/instacart-ceo-100x-business-growth-at-openai-is-just-the-beginning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener
