Credit: The Morning Show<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">As prices continue to surge across the board, he said Australians should look at broader cost-saving measures.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">High-interest savings accounts are now offering rates up to 5.4 per cent, providing an opportunity to earn more on savings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cIt is definitely tough out there, but I think that the only real positive is the fact that interest rates on savings accounts are now higher than they\u2019ve been in the recent past,\u201d Nash said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Mortgage holders are also being encouraged to review their rates, with Nash warning many Australians are paying a \u201cloyalty tax\u201d by not switching lenders to a better deal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of data that shows that we have this loyalty tax in Australia of between half and one per cent that sort of preys on people that don\u2019t switch their mortgages regularly,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">On a $700,000 mortgage, a 0.5 per cent reduction could save around $3,500 annually.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/b03e95d0685564badb98fb26d4d9aec1d52a3e5f.png\" alt=\"Expert reveals simple tricks to save at the bowser as petrol pain hits wallets.\" class=\"css-16r7l45-StyledImage en5ut4d0\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>Expert reveals simple tricks to save at the bowser as petrol pain hits wallets.
