Prior to that, the film had been slated for release on Oct. 10, 2025. Peter Atencio directs the film from a script by Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/ryan-reynolds\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ryan-reynolds_1\" data-tag=\"ryan-reynolds\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ryan Reynolds<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/jason-momoa\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jason-momoa_1\" data-tag=\"jason-momoa\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jason Momoa<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/aubrey-plaza\/\" id=\"auto-tag_aubrey-plaza_1\" data-tag=\"aubrey-plaza\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aubrey Plaza<\/a>, Addison Rae, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/dan-levy\/\" id=\"auto-tag_dan-levy_1\" data-tag=\"dan-levy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dan Levy<\/a>, Lil Rel Howery and Ellie Bamber round out the cast. The project hails from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/legendary\/\" id=\"auto-tag_legendary_1\" data-tag=\"legendary\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Legendary<\/a>, Maximum Effort and Prime Focus Studios.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAnimal Friends\u00a0was originally set up at Sony Pictures and shifted to Warner Bros. in 2024 through the studio\u2019s deal with Legendary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAtencio previously directed the comedy features\u00a0Keanu\u00a0(2016) and\u00a0The Machine\u00a0(2023). He also worked on the Apple TV+ series\u00a0The Afterparty.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tReynolds led 2024\u2019s\u00a0Deadpool &amp; Wolverine, which was the second-highest-grossing title at the global box office that year. He stars with Kenneth Branagh and Maria Bakalova in directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley\u2019s Apple TV movie\u00a0Mayday\u00a0that begins streaming in September.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tMomoa starred alongside Jack Black and Danielle Brooks in last year\u2019s smash hit\u00a0A Minecraft Movie\u00a0from Warner Bros. and Legendary. He was seen opposite Dave Bautista in this year\u2019s Prime Video action-comedy\u00a0The Wrecking Crew. Momoa\u2019s forthcoming 2026 releases include Supergirl, Street Fighter and Dune: Part Three.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tPlaza was most recently seen last year in Focus Features\u2019\u00a0Honey Don\u2019t!\u00a0alongside Margaret Qualley, Charlie Day and Chris Evans.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Warner Bros. is again shifting the release date of its live-action hybrid movie Animal Friends.
