{"id":41266,"date":"2025-09-03T17:03:10","date_gmt":"2025-09-03T17:03:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/41266\/"},"modified":"2025-09-03T17:03:10","modified_gmt":"2025-09-03T17:03:10","slug":"man-who-led-gardai-on-chase-has-learned-his-lesson-after-completing-driving-course","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/41266\/","title":{"rendered":"Man who led Gardai on chase &#8220;has learned his lesson&#8221; after completing driving course"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A young man who led Gardai on a pursuit through farmyards and along country roads before fleeing on foot has been put off the road for two years.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Conor Breslin, 19, appeared at Letterkenny District Court following the incident on September, 30th, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Garda Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that Gardai out on patrol spotted Breslin driving along the R245 at Carrigart at 3pm in the afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>They were aware that Breslin was not insured and did not hold a driving license.<\/p>\n<p>Gardai pursued Breslin along rural roads and into a farmyard where he stopped when he did a handbrake turn, stopping and facing the Garda patrol car.<\/p>\n<p>The young driver jumped out of the car and fled on foot but was apprehended a short time later.<\/p>\n<p>The court was told that Breslin, of Devlinreagh, Carrigart, Co. Donegal, has no previous convictions.<\/p>\n<p>he was charged with driving without insurance, driving without a license and also two counts of dangerous driving at Devlinreagh, Carrigart, and also Carrick, Carrigart.  <\/p>\n<p>His solicitor, Mr Frank Dorrian, said his client is a shy and polite young man who now realises the error of his ways.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that Breslin bought the car and took a chance on taking it for a spin but that things went \u201cspectacularly wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Dorrian said the Gardai speak well of his client and that he admitted straight away that he was driving the car and had been very polite when caught.<\/p>\n<p>He also disclosed that his client had undertaken the Pro Social Driving Course.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Dorrian said Breslin currently works on farms in rural Donegal during harvest time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is very concerned about this.
