\n\tHomes in the Nordic National Romantic style of the late 19th and early 20th century rarely hit the market, but one such architectural gem is up for grabs in Sweden<\/a>\u2019s scenic village of Hinsnoret.<\/p>\n

\n\tFamously known as Norhaga Countryhouse<\/a>, the lakefront landmark near Falun was designed by architect Lars Israel Wahlman and built in 1903. Wahlman, a leader in the Nordic Arts and Crafts movement of the early 20th century, had a bold artistic vision for the home set on over 2.5 acres. Following a three-year renovation that began in 2021, the pad is now listed with Ingrid Niclason of Sweden Sotheby\u2019s International Realty for just under $3.2 million (or 30 million Swedish kronor).<\/p>\n

Yet, due to \u201chigh-profile visitors,\u201d ranging from celebrities to the king and queen of Sweden, it hasn\u2019t had many showings, according to Mansion Global<\/a>. The main residence, which offers access to a fairytale tower, music room, boathouse, tennis court, and a private island, was previously rented out for short-term stays by its current owners. Eight other on-site buildings are included in the sale, too.<\/p>\n

\n\tWahlman\u2019s nine-bedroom retreat seamlessly incorporates several key elements that speak to its architectural roots. (Signatures of the National Romanticism style include a connection to nature, the use of national materials, and folk-inspired touches.) The main residence features a log-clad facade, a steeply pitched roof, and an assortment of perfectly positioned casement windows, ensuring just the right amount of storybook charm.<\/p>\n

The living quarters showcase restored original furnishings and a bright palette inspired by the Dala horse\u2014a wooden horse which originated in the Swedish province of Dalarna\u2014in a celebration of national identity and craftsmanship.<\/p>\n

\n\tAn expansive lakefront view from the skylight-capped reception area is one of the best parts of this address. Other highlights include a colorful green kitchen with a vintage range, a formal dining room that seats up to 10 people, and a cozy family room with a massive adobe-style fireplace.<\/p>\n

\n\tOutdoors, the sunlit gardens sprawl out before a boathouse with a dock and a striking sauna on the water. Elsewhere, owners can cross a short bridge to reach the estate\u2019s private isle above calm waters. Sounds like a wonderful place to unwind.<\/p>\n
